Damn...not the way to ring in the new year. Another idiot with a gun, and a vehicle, hell bent on destruction.

Alright my ambiguously brown brothers, time to repeat the mantra:

"Don't be Muslim, don't be Muslim, don't be Muslim..."

After the growing trend of using vehicles to attack crowds, I am surprised large gatherings don't have posts or k-rail or other barriers preventing access to the streets at the time people have gathered. Local cops / security for events could easily setup the barriers for said gatherings. May be more cost prohibitive in rural settings, but there's hardly an excuse for major cities.

Currently reported to be 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, and the vehicle contained an ISIS flag.

So if that info pans out.. not a lefty, LGBTQ or drag queen!

FUCK OFF MAGA and the religion of peace!

Did the man not enjoy, what I would assume to be, his tours in Afghanistan and Iraq?
About the proper age to be a vet from those wars.

Wonder what drove him to madness.

He used an F-150 Lightning wonder what stupid shit will come out of that.
Ughh, they average about 35% heavier than the equivalent ICE-powered models—that’s up to 6500 pounds plowing into a crowd at higher speed (faster acceleration). Also—I may be wrong about this—but I wonder if these cars are harder to stop/disable by law enforcement firing towards where the engine block would normally be.

What a horrible way to start what already promises to be a shitty year.

I watched a video of the aftermath and there's deceased people lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the head. (not the suspect)

Pretty disturbing but makes me want to ask..

Did he or the cops have a shootout which resulted in more casualties than just the F150 ramming people down?

Rented on Turo. A person to person car sharing site. My neighbor does this. Has about 8-10 cars cycling through his driveway that he rents out through Turo.

He’s lucky the guy didn’t rent from him since the article says he picked the electric atruck up in Houston and my neighbor rents a Cybertruck

Developing story from attack last night on Bourbon street

FBI says 'this is not a terrorist event',which is laughable
Currently IIRC Garland says it is being investigated as a terrorist act.
Don't worry, this will "NEVER" happen again after Trump "closes" the border. /vomit
Perp was born in the USA

They had barriers but perp managed to sweep through or around them.

Supposedly made $120,000/year but had debt issues and was fighting off foreclosure. Divorce problems too.

They say rented.

Two policemen are said to be wounded, I presume by virtue of the gun battle with the perp.

The driver fired into the crowd as he was plowing through it.

Looks like he wasn't acting alone.

The suspect is not believed to be "solely responsible" for the attack, according to the FBI, which said it is pursuing leads to identify any of his associates.

New Orleans police have reviewed surveillance video that appears to show several people planting potential explosive devices in advance of the vehicle ramming, leading the FBI to conclude the driver of the pickup truck did not act alone in the attack, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Unclear what "potential explosive devices" means. I assume we'll get more details later.

That is an ISIS tactic. Do one atrocity and when the local authorities come to help set off a bunch of explosives.
Luckily they didn't seem competent this time.
