So i installed a 8800gs video card
all was well
booted right up all is sweet but now my wifi wont wont?
Yup thats right the Wifi connection will NOT work with my video card on.

I tried to isolate the problem, if i disable the 8800gs on the device manager and restart all is well. As soon as i re-enable it and restart, my wifi will not work. It keeps saying the network is out of range yet there is all bars showing up

Some system specifics:
Basic Dell Vostro mini tower E7300 2gb ram etc etc
Asus WL138 G V2 wifi card
Asus 8800gs video card
Windows Vista Basic

I think that should cover the bases in terms of information needed to know. I have ensured ALL drivers are up to date as well. Im really at a loss here.

How many watts does the PSU have. May be an issue with power.

I dont think it would be the PSU
yes its low and should not be run on a rig of this type but i dont believe in the PSU hype
its currently a 305W unit however there is no power draw differences whether the driver is on or off
in both cases the fan turns on etc the only change is the graphics are crap when the driver is disable.

I am going to try a friend's PCI wifi card and compare later tonight.

All drivers?

- Go to Dell and download the latest mobo chipset drivers and install them.
- Login to your router and check for newer firmware...if so, install that as well.
- If there is a newer BIOS, get that from Dell IF the new chipset drivers and updated firmware don't do the trick.

What brand PSU?
If it's a high quality brand with plenty of amps on the 12V+, it'd probably be fine. But I definitely wouldn't count on a small cheap generic PSU holding up.

Try moving the Wifi card(assuming you have one) to a different PCI slot.

Issue was resolved
Found the greatest fix ever
highly technical
simply changed PCI wifi cards. Got a Linksys and everything works fine now. Makes no sense to me neither Would love to get my WL 138 working though
and it IS a broadcom chip on the card, I believe the Linksys is a different chipset which is the reason why i tried that.
