looks like u CAN use them like GC's
look
5. When prompted to select a payment method, enter your promotional
certificate claim code in the field provided on the order form.
6. If your order exceeds $10.00, you must pay for the balance of your
order with a credit card.

so you see, when you are going to pay you enter the giftcard number, but if total exceeds giftcard you have to pay by creditcard, but i havent tried stacking them yet, plese dont flame me if im wrong! =)

I did try to stack them with no success. Only one -$10 showed up.
Promos are supposed to be used once per order.

anyone know how to make the hp promotional a non-promotional gc? i've read on another board that for example if you use your hp $10 promotional gc to buy an e-book for $2.00, amazon should credit you $8 back to your gc balance. then you can add your 2nd hp promotional gc = $18 in your gc balance. will they allow you to stack them up then?

These are amazon GC's. You can stack them all you want. As far as I know, you cannot stack coupons, however.

I just got mine today. Since we all got them, is it safe to assume no one abused it?

sweet. anandtech has a bunch of good fellas :) except for that Hoa Vo in Stone Mountain, GA.

but then does that mean if you keep on using those $5 refer-a-friend coupons, and buying only $2 items, that you'll gradually get a larger and larger balance?

Great for DVDs. I just got 'Lock Stock...' with 'X-Men' and noticed my pre-GC price was over $35. So I stacked, putting the $5 off $35 first and then using my $10 GC (thanks HP!) so in the end I got both DVDs for just over $12 each (not great, but not too shabby considering the minimal effort!)

Edit: I'm not sure of this, but I think it worked cuz the $5 off $35 from phatwallet works like a stackable GC, not a standard promo code.
