I don't believe it includes any media.

The there is a $50 off code on some other site that seems to work as well. Great deal for $250.

If it doesn't include any media then what exactly is the basic deal for $129?

Hmmmm.... not a $299 deal.... not a $249 deal either...

Since the deal is for 12 months.... if you're using this software longer than 12 months, add on $199 to the price for each additional year you use the software.

But, I stillllll like the deal from college better :) *FREE* microsoft software for me through their licensing agreement. Granted, not every title there, but probably half of them. Plus, my license is good for when I'm not a student anymore

Where did you find this basic deal for $129, do you have a link?

Thanks.

Sorry RossMAN, the message was tongue in cheek. The basic deal does not include any software nor licenses. It only includes all of the marketing and promotional materials that you might want to have in order to properly reference the products. I made the remark, because I couldn't imagine that anybody would actually purchase this option.

Again, apologies for the confusion.

You are exactly right. Not only does it not include media, it does NOT include software licenses.

Direct From Microsoft for Partner Support Team:

Hello Mitch,
Thank you for contacting the Microsoft for Partner Support Team regarding your inquiry.
As stated in the subscription license agreement, the software and all media must be removed from all systems and destroyed when the subscription expires after one year. However, if you renew your subscription, you'll be authorized to use the software for another year at a reduced price. Plus, you'll get more software, and service packs, and product guides as they become available.
Should you have other concerns, feel free to write us again.
Sincerely,

Pamela

And each year the new os's are added to the pack so when they come out with Windows PP or BM, you get that too. If you can use the server software, this deal screams.

Seems like Microsoft is moving toward leasing software. Next step in world domination. <G>

So basically all of that software will cost you $300 /year? I don't really understand how they can ensure that you remove and destroy it all if you choose not to renew though.

They come to your home and remove it for you.

*Knock, knock*
you: Who's there?
them: Microsoft Police
you: How'd they ever find. *Runs to format c:*
them: *Breaks down door and siezes computer. Takes you away*

Its a good deal and I wouldn't sweat it.

I would imagine that eventually they'll move to a situation whereby - a microsoft product gets launched and it automatically checks into a registration server to verify that you are, in fact, legally licensed.

My work has the action pack and here's what happens. At first they send you a big package of software in plastic sleeves with serial numbers on them. Then about once a month they send you the updates for the enclosed software and a bunch of other marketing stuff. Not a bad deal at all. Look at it from a company's standpoint. The licensing on this allows the purchasing business to use the software so you can save your company $10K in software upgrade costs this year. It might make you look good for your superiors.

How does activation work for the products in this pack that require MS activation (WinXP, OfficeXP, etc.) Do you need to contact MS for activation, or are these these pre-activated installs? And if you need to contact MS for activation, does that mean that after a year, they will deny your request to install or to update unless you resubscribe?

All of the products (except one) that require activation come with (5) valid activation keys and (1) set of media. The exception is the XP Pro disk, which only comes with a single key, but which I presume allows for up to (5) activations. I've activated my copy of XP Pro on (4) systems so far without having to call Microsoft.

I'm not sure about what happens with activations after the subscription period is over and you choose not to renew - I'm curious about this too.

Does anyone know how to check order status with this deal? They charged my credit card the day I ordered it (7 days ago), and I haven't seen any software yet. I want to make sure they shipped it when they charged me.

thanks in advance,

Immediately following the order, I received a shipping confirmation with a UPS tracking number. I have been watching my package make it's way from Washington state for a week. It is 'out for delivery' as we speak. So, I wait, by the door!!:D

(Belated) UPDATE:

yomamma is correct. The $50 promotion code MT7WWPS is working again. It was down over the weekend until some guy bitch-slapped the Order Site into accepting it, and posted over at FW. Figure on 10 days shipping to the east coast.

Just an update. The $50 is STILL valid and working today. Considering how long you use an OS before a new version comes out, this is a great deal.

I am and Exchange installation specialist and I wanted to install Exchange and office 2k and Office XP and Windows 2k on all of my units at the church.

What happens after a year.
Do you renew the subscription, will you get more software??? inquiring minds would like to know?

Once you renew the license how long does the renewal last?

Same here, except the apart about being an Exchange installation specialist. Our church needs a lot of this software.
