The diabetes and high blood pressure are, like you said, genetics. However, being overweight doesn't help your conditions any. If the problems concern you (which they should) you need to get on the ball and exercise and eat right.

How old are you, if you don't mind sharing? It sounds like you need to make some major lifestyle adjustments. Hopefully you can turn things around.

yeah I already threw away the salt shaker -- hell, all salt. I'm gonna go buy an exercise bike later today to get on it. The liver and kidney deal...yikes. Not much I can do.

My mom's side of the family has a string of bad genetics including high blood pressure. If I eat incorrectly for a month, I feel the difference, I have a high chance of getting it too. It is about being aware of those problems and making lifestyle changes to compensate for them.

Take up biking. It is loads of fun, and will help out in all departments there.

I am sorry to hear this, but think of it as a blessing in disguise... you found out early enough to take control of your life.

these are all symptoms of the same problem...so if you fix it, you might be relatively healthy again. Eat properly, exercise a lot, and get enough sleep.

yeah if you seriously want help, post what you eat in a typical day, and be fair, also all the exercise you get.

eating right isn't hard, you just have to force yourself to be near only healthy alternatives.

A day in my life? Before today:
well, I wake up @ 7 eat breakfast -- usually bagel with some cream cheese (light amount)
Go to work from 8-5pm
Lunch @ Subway. Turkey sandwhich with everything
Dinner varies a hell of a lot from pork chops or lean ground beef with ALWAYS rice and either beans or boiled green plantains (I'm hispanic)
Shower
Watch O'Reilly @ 8 (prob the cause of my high blood pressure!)
and use the PC from 9-12...

that's it really. It's boring, I know -- but hey, you asked

Exactly.. You are only 23; you can get a head start on your lifestyle change right now, and reverse most of the bad that has happened to you. But as others have mentioned, it has to be a total lifestyle change. You can't just do the "good" for two to three months and then revert back to your old ways; you will not accomplish anything that way

lol the everything part means tomatos, olives, peppers, etc

I have to admit that I do snack alot... usually home made tamarind popsicles
I always get diet coke, diet sprite, etc -- never pure coke. Though I drink orange juice. My weight problem is really more of excess eating. I eat large portions...

My guess is his pulse is really high because his heart has to work harder to push the blood through his body. Get back in shape and your heart rate should go down. Remember that the heart is a muscle, so it needs to be worked just as much as(and probably more) than any of your other muscles! Stronger heart = less pulses!

Yes.. even losing 10 pounds should have a *SIGNIFICANT* difference.
They should lower your blood pressure and stabilze the sugar levels.

I would suggest joining thre gym ASAP and start eating healthy.
 
I just found out that the prescriptions I've been on since an accident I was in in December of last year have reduced the functions of my liver to the extent that it may be irreversible and has also caused me to not be covered on a life insurance policy I took out.

I know to take care of myself but, man...these thing are unforgiving. I've been overweight for like 2 years only...

I'm not one to scarf down fatty ground beef or eat a tub of fries, either.

Of course its genetics. My father and all his side have diabetes -- on my mom's side they all have high blood pressure.

I'm kinda sad today...anyone else in the same jig?
cheer up and do what your doctor says to start taking better care of yourself.
