Mission Accomplished meant the end of major battles in Iraq, not the end of all hostilities. DUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

You Bush apologists crack me up. You are preaching to the choir. The point is THE BANNER NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. The grandstanding was stupid enough but a banner proclaiming something that was simply not true was just an asshatted attempt to placate the people in this country with IQ's below 100. Look further up in the post to see them in their blissful glory of ignorance. WWII? End of Major Battles? Pft. Move along now nothing to see here but the SSDD.

You really do hate our service men and women don't you? The banner was chosen by the men and women on that ship. It was to celebrate the sucesful end of their operations. Their mission was accomplished.

End of story.

You really should apologize for that. His son died in Iraq.

It sure would be nice if some individuals would realize that criticizing the poorly planned "liberation" of Iraq is not tantamount to denigrating the soldiers serving over there.

Considering his son died in Iraq, I doubt that. And that banner was much more than one chosen by the ship's crew, and that's obvious, otherwise it would not have been in the photo-op.

What's the "end of story" bit for?

In fact, it was recently revealed that it was bush administration officials who made that banner. I don't know where e-tech is getting this bs from.

typical

who requested the banner?

Does anyone have a link to the story that the White House made the sign they put up on the air craft carrier?

"For months, the Bush administration denied that it was responsible for the banner, blaming the aircraft carrier crew itself. Since then, White House officials have acknowledged it was their idea.

"We put it up. We made the sign," Fleischer said. "But I think it accurately summed up where we were at the time, mission accomplished... the mission was to topple Saddam Hussein. "

LMAO @ etech! :D:D

You guys....don't you know? When etech says "end of story", that's the final word. etech is the final word on everything. His post blew up in his face and I'll bet he doesn't even respond. If he does, it will probably be how that CBS news link is simply a lying tool of the liberal media, and everyone here just hates our troops and wants them to die faster.

Roll the eyes but sometimes thats the way it looks. Not the media thing. But Ive seen people here act almost joyous when they get the chance to be the first to post bad news. As for the bannner thing, I was mistaken. I still think to many people make to big a deal out of it. There's a huge difference between a mission and a war though. It is actually possible to complete a mission without winning the whole thing.

Hey, I'm sure there are people like that...and that's really too bad. However, please explain to me how this...

Pft. Move along now nothing to see here but the SSDD.

leads to a reply that starts with...

You really do hate our service men and women don't you?

From what I read, he is talking about a poor choice by the admin in staging that event. Nowhere...and I mean NOWHERE does he even mention the troops, let alone anything that could even REMOTELY be interpreted as "I hate the troops".

People who hate the troops for doing their jobs and serving their country are sad, but so are people who try label everyone that doesn't agree with them as "unpatriotic" or "someone who hates the troops".

Edit:

Also, this is pretty much the status quo for etech...just like calling everyone son.

Yeah, etech, you there? Come on, show people you can be a responsible poster, not a hit and run jerk.

There is a whole slew of members on P&N who will never admit to making a mistake, never admit to getting the facts mixed up, never apologize...you get the idea. I get the feeling that they somehow think it make's them less of a man to say such things, when, in fact, the opposite occurs. I commend nutxo for saying he was mistaken a few posts up. Just keep in mind, if you're mistaken about one thing you may very well be mistaken about another. ;)

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a man out there who is right 100% of the time. Everybody's wrong now and then. How you handle the realization of being wrong says more about you as a person than the fact that you are right the majority of the time.

Being wrong usually doesn't warrant ridicule, refusal to admit you were wrong does.

nutxo has proven before he can admit a mistake. He's a good poster for a conservative. ;)
Hell, I'm probably guilty of hit and run posting myself. 'course, I'm never wrong, so no problem there. ;)

LOL. etech doesn't owe me anything. He made a flippant remark and scattered to the 4 winds. No big deal. It's not like I have a sig that says "My son Died in Iraq, treat me nice". Nah, I want the CADs and the Etechs of the board to give it to me with both barrels whenever they can. Nothing bad can come from Americans discussing policies, problems, wars, etc. I would be more worried if MB's like this were empty and people just went along with their lives without being passionate about their opinions. Now back to the bitching! :p

Let's assume that the banner did indeed refer to a mission rather than the war. Why on Earth deny any involvement with it?

Perhaps they were "liberal" by that day's standard. However, socially they would be considered middle of the road; and militarily they would be considered far right by today's standard.

Thank God they lived in day before the cancer of political correctness started eating away our society.

I am a daddy. My kids are the ones who are going to pay for this little adventure of Bush's.
I do wear black on occasion, however. :D

LOL :)
Make that 8 days...

I'm beginning to see a pattern here.

etech has chosen to not venture back into this thread.
X-Man didn't bother to come back to this thread.
girlgeek vanished from this thread.
CADkindaGUY and heartsurgeon refuse to answer the 'Bush flip-flops' question in this thread.

Is it just coincidence that they're all BAs? Or is that SOP for the common BA?

I used to get kind of embarrassed when it appeared that these members were squirming in their seats, now it's become old hat to see them run away.

I guess that uranium cake isn't the only thing yellow around here, huh girlgeek? ;)
