1 week until MLB The Show 2016!

As an avid baseball fan (both my son and I for that matter) and my first year with a Play Station, I can't tell you how excited I am for this release. I've wanted to play The Show for YEARS and now it's only a week away. 🙂

Same, except I'm still on the fence. I really want it, and I want to get a PS4. However, the prices on the consoles are so bad, when compared to the XB1, that it's hard to pull the trigger. What I can get for $300 now with Microsoft is $350-400 with Sony. I've already got an XB1, though. It's just hard to bite the bullet of a more-expensive console with a free game I don't want (Black Ops 3), just to play baseball.

Not having ANY baseball last year (we had an X360) and years prior having to deal with MLB2k (not bad, just isn't The Show), I bit the bullet and got the PS4 for the son for Christmas. He played a ton of GTAV on it (as he did on the PC, and 360) but now it just sits pretty much idle, waiting for 3/29.

For whatever reason I can't get into modern console baseball games. Ken Griffey Jr. presents MLB on the SNES is the last baseball game that I could really play, and I was obsessed with it. Baseball is easily my favorite sport, just ask my wife I rarely miss an O's game, but I just can't get into it on modern consoles.

i can't get into modern sports games in general. i haven't liked them since like nfl 2k2. i did like me some nba street jamz though, the more arcadey games. but the maddens, mlb, nhl, nba games just bore me to death.

the last baseball game i loved was also ken griffey's baseball, but it was the one on n64.

I last played MLB 2K12 so we're coming up on 3+ years for me. I'm not sure how I will feel about The Show because MLB 2K's controls were fantastic. All issues aside, gesture-based pitching on there was the best control scheme in a sports game that I experienced.

I'd like for both NBA and NFL STREETto return. I liked those more than their sim counterparts. EA should give up on NBA LIVE and bring STREET back instead. They aren't getting NBA 2K folks with that junk.

I get this game every year. It's the reason I bought a PS3 way back in '08! Only downside this year is I am out of town on release day and won't get to play it right away!

I do miss the arcadey games too - The Bigs was a GREAT series as was Street Jamz and the like. REALLY wish somebody would make a new Bigs game though. Those were a blast.

Honestly, in modern games I rarely play a "season" or "franchise". I do a lit of the "My Player" stuff or fantasy teams etc. Nothing beats head to head games though with friends/family. Especially when they are in the room with you. My son is in for some monumental trash talking this year.

I remember liking MLB slugfest. Me and a buddy played that a lot

Just wish I could get the Amazon 20% off on a digital copy. 🙁 Still buying day one though. Even started playing 15 again to get used to batting/pitching.

Are there any major changes to the game this year? Haven't played it since the first release for PS4.

For many, Sounds of the Show coming back on the PS4 is huge; now we can supply our own music for the game to augment / replace the soundtrack.

For me as an almost-exclusively Road to the Show (RTTS) player, the PS4 having the "Play next game in series" or whatever it's called is a godsend. No more getting kicked back out to the RTTS dashboard just to choose "Play Next Appearance" and have the game reload all over again.

The last baseball game I played was Pete Rose Baseball 🙂

I've been buying every installment of The Show since The Show '12 on PS3.

In my humble opinion, it's easily one of the finest sports games made. Period.

There's not a whole lot of changes between the games each year, but the sheer amount of hours of fun per dollar is extraordinary.
Some of my best gaming memories of the two generations were leading my Giants over the course of several franchise seasons. In The Show '14, I played 5 full seasons. Won the World Series my first year (as the real life team did:thumbsup🙂, and made it back to the Fall Classic in my third year (and lost), and never made it back after.
In last year's version, I only played two full seasons, but won it all in my second season in a Game 7 BLOWOUT against the A's.

I held off on NBA 2K16 this year. Just can't juggle too many sports game franchises at once; it ends up monoploizing all my free game time.
I'm eagerly anticipating this year's The Show though. 😀

See... now these stories and such are geeking me out.
As I have said, I have wanted to play/own this game my whole life.
FINALLY.

Which version is everyone getting? I'm going to get the PS4 LE, because the steelbook looks cool. I keep telling myself I'm going to go buy the steelbook for MLB 15 as well because the wood grain is such a cool thing. I'm wondering if this baseball one will be cool, or just some molded and painted metal. Regardless, I'm going to spend the extra $10 (well, only $8 after GCU) for that nice packaging. I guess I will use the DLC, but I care less about that.

I love NHL games, I've gotten tired of Madden games the last couple of years. I think it was a couple years ago when for some reason DBs could leap 15 feet in the air to knock down a pass was when I was done with Madden. But I'll play NHL 15 almost every night, at least a game or two.

Don't care about the special case all that much. Want the DLC though. In fact, if you don't want your codes, I will buy them off you 🙂
I wish Amazon had the discount on digital downloads as then I'd buy the digital version and get all the extra DLC content. Sort of sucks they don't give the discount on anything but hardcopies -- I'd love not to have to deal with a disc, but not at $40 more.

I'm getting the standard edition. I don't really need the packs as I don't play Diamond Dynasty really at all.

I bought the special edition of '15 for the steelbook and dlc and I don't really need another steelbook this year.

I'd be willing to discuss the DLC once the game releases. However, I will want to see how it is delivered. Though I don't care for the DLC content much (I mean, I'd use it, but not be excited I got it or anything), I'd like to have the avatars. So, hopefully the stuff is on separate codes, because I'd like have a Cubs logo on my profile. If it's all one DLC code, I'll have to think a bit harder on it, I guess.

I play madden franchise mode on ps2 almost daily. Shortly after the ps3 released madden got an overhaul and I hated it, mostly because the presnap adjustments were so fluid on ps2/xbox, then they bungled it on next gen. Also, draft mode is just classic.

I think I stopped buying the show the year McCutchen got the cover because it was literally a roster update year after year.

Understood -- all I want is the codes for the packs/tickets etc. Not the avatars.
Though, you're a Cubs fan?... I don't know if I can associate with your ilk. 🙂

Last season was the first time I was really disappointed with the lack of changes. Hopefully this year's will bring something new to the franchise.
