$1 Tooth Whitening System

Guess it works like sandpaper...polishes your teeth. Interesting! I tried out the Crest teeth whitening system before I got married (for the photos, hehe) and it worked really well, but it was expensive (like $30 or $40) and it made my teeth really sensitive for awhile.

I bet it helps at least slightly, but no way I would be the first person to test it. I think it should work no differently then any other abrasive toothpaste, probably just to the next level.. stronger.

I'd try it but I don't have baking soda or *clean charcoal. *not soaked in lighter fluid for the one light touch crap.

I don't know about the charcoal, but I know a couple people who swear by brushing with baking soda instead of tooth paste. When I grew up, if we ever ran out of toothpaste, we'd just switch to baking soda until we got to the store.

Hmm, what about one of the questions asked, would it remove the enamel? This is actually kind of ghetto now that I think about it. How would you even ask your dentist a question like this, "Kingsford of will Western Family work?"

holy crap, no!

a baking soda slurry is fine in a pinch, but i wouldn't use it a lot unless you want to brush away your enamel. the baking soda they regularly put in toothpaste is minute as compared to using it straight up.

charcoal? is it safe to put in your mouth?

Dry/chemical free charcoal isn't really harmful in small doses. I know you can buy it over the counter for problems with gas. Well, so I have been told. 😱

Charcoal is the main ingredient sold as those reduction of hangover pills in those TV ads, while I'm not sure if its 100% safe, I doubt you'll notice any immediate damage. I've also read that theres you're supposed to administer some kind of charcoal to dogs in case they ingest something poisoness (I was thinking about feeding friend's dog some nuts, but google says itd be bad, along with grapes and onions even) somehow it draws it out. If theres no charcoal around make some by burning toast article recommended. I'm too lazy to google but thats what I read.

As a medic, we can give activated charcoal for some types of ingestions, so it is benign in that form. However, they always puke from it...

that doesnt sound bad...just make sure you wash out your mouth so there is no charcoal left...then toothpaste it!

id be interested to know if its bad for your teeth or not.

hello....?

i already said the baking soda is not a good thing to pulverize your teeth with.

Maybe it's just me but it seems there's something inherently wrong with using something as black as charcoal to whiten teeth.

i would think if there was a shred of credibility to this formula that it'd be posted at least a few other places on the net. i cannot find any links related to the teeth, but charcoal + baking soda seems to be a good mildew and odor remover. 😛
