Hey guys. I bought myself a 2012 VW GTI in Shadow Metallic Blue with the convenience package a few weeks ago. Anyone here like these? I'm loving this thing hard. Just swapped in some sticky summer tires and swapped the foot well lighting to red LEDs. Thinking about getting a sub or some tints and maybe some new pads.

Pics? I don't think I've ever seen a blue VW ever. lol

As for swapping for footwell lights to red LEDS, that is something I always wanted to do in my GLI. I used to love the red glow from the ceiling when driving at night, it would have been nice to get the footwell to match.
 
Good looking car, except for the dumb interior lighting that a lot of new cars seem to be doing. I guess they're targeting kids or something.

Post some pics of it though. Should be mandatory in new car threads in the garage.
 
Like the GTI very much. But I'm driving an enormous RWD sedan now so it would be hard to go back to a FWD hatch.
 
Awesome! I bought a 2012 base Black GTI this past April. I actually wanted the shadow blue but they didn't have any base models in stock anywhere nearby, so I settled for black instead of waiting. I still get a smile on my face whenever I go for a drive.

Did you get 6MT or the DSG?
 
If they had a turbo diesel AWD GTI, I'd be on it for a winter driver. I know there's a GDI supposedly coming in a few years, but it's not AWD if I recall correctly.
 
My last car was a 2002 GTI 337 and currently im driving a 2012 Golf R. So, yeah, you could say i am a fan. I also had a 1979 Rabbit in high school...i want a '76 GTI/Rally for a project car.

Buy a Ford 😉 Then you can pick your color. All the LEDs are already there 😛
 
i haven't driven a mark vi gti ever but i've driven a 2007 and it was pretty fun. coworker had a 2012 TDI and the interior i thought was very nice, though the nav system was pretty terrible (got us lost , way worse than a phone).

Pics uploaded. Was raining today so I used the ones that I took when I first got it. It is a great drive although this is coming from someone who's previous cars have been used hand me downs....1995 Nissan Maxima....1996 Lexus ES300....2005 Honda Accord...2005 Chrysler Sebring....1995 Lexus LS400.

Yes I do have the plaid seats. I really like them 😀 It's pretty pimp.
 
I just got a Red 2012 2DR 6 speed GTI... got a nice deal since they're liquidating for 2013 models.

I like the idea of the red footwell lights... how hard is that to do?

Easy. Takes about ten minutes. There's a guide with some instructions and photos on the golfmk6 forums.
