25, and yes, very much. I do a lot of 3D rendering, so, I need decent specs. Try to update about every 2 years.

28, only interested in PC specs when there's a need to upgrade. On the other hand, I like to be up to speed on what is the best/fastest hardware out there.

When I do upgrade, I try and find the best value for what I need.

27, I used to upgrade to the latest CPU and graphics card but in the past few years... I started caring less. I guess mainly because I hardly play games on my PC now. My main rig is a Q6600 @ 3.4 ghz which I've had for a few years. In the past, I would've immediately upgraded to the latest i7. I do try to find the best value for performance when I do look for an upgrade.

25

I use to always want the newest parts and have a super fast PC and be able to run every game at max settings. Now, if my parts are a few years old, it doesnt bother me. I dont care if I have to run a game at mid settings or lower.

For my home computer, speed does not matter too much. My desktop is 3-4 years old and I'm happy with it.

For my work computer, speed matters very much. I can work faster on a quadcore with 8GB of ram than a slower computer.

23, I learned from when I was younger that I wasted all that money on a fast computer. I try to build the cheapest thing possible that will do what I want it to do, so if that means the $150 graphics card will do the job, then thats what I get. There's no reason to really go over the mainstream stuff other than to subsidize my mainstream computing parts 🙂

specs dont really matter, i dont even know what cpu i have right now...lol. I just know that I have enough RAM and a big enough HD space...that's all I pay attention to.

This. My build cost $475 and was a gift. It plays games well enough, but i work very quickly on my computer and i get frustrated when it can't keep up. Gone are the days where you basically had to plan your workday around encoding a video...

I don't care about my specs as far as e-peen, but I do like a good machine that can run anything I decide to throw at it. Stuff is fairly inexpensive thesedays, and having a decent rig is fairly important to me. That's all.

That being said, my last computer before January this year was from 2006. It was just too out of date to run any games. It's gone to my folks for email/web surf.

24, I care somewhat. I went from a Socket 754 Athlon64 with IGP (after the Radeon 9800 died) as my main desktop to a i5 750 with a Radeon 5850. That was quite a leap. I like playing games maxed out but am hardly a 'gamer'. I am fairly certain I'll get quite a bit of mileage out of this rig. Might upgrade the video card in 2 years if some AAA megaultrahypernext-gen games come out that refuse to run at decent IQ.

26. "Specs" don't mean shit. I figure out what I want it to do, then I buy parts. I build another one when it can't do its job anymore.

Based on need. Recently put 150 down on a new card, more ram, and cpu to play Mass Effect 2 on high details because I wanted to experience that game on high details. But before that? Nope. System was absolutely fine and posed no real problems to me. Actually, I only really needed the GPU upgrade, but I decided to toss the best CPU that my board would take, and decided to move up in Ram because it was so cheap....I'm sure those will help photo editing....but has it really changed my usage (beyond playing ME2 at full details?)? Nope. I could sit on my current rig for a few years....until Mass Effect 3 of course 😀 I like how a computer can take you a long ways these days. Amazing that a 2 year old system can really still push many games on high/max detail. My guess is because many PC games are now just Xbox ports (Which kind of sucks in ME2 as stats and everything seems to have gotten watered down to a degree 🙁 ). Now if we talk about work...yes....I hate waiting. I wish I had dual hexcore AMD setup with 64 gigs of ram...that would rock. Probably turn overnight simulations using an intel core duo into an event that lasts a couple of hours.

Computer specs are pretty much meaningless to me. I get off on upgrading from time to time but not enough to spec out a high price gaming rig. Although, I did drop about $1500 on my latest desktop but only because I had to buy everything for it, case, monitor, keyboard, speakers...everything. Last April I upgraded my wife's computer for less than $300 and couldn't tell you what it is without checking the specs in Windows. I could tell you what the specs are on my new computer but I'm not going to. 😛
