1 ghz thunderbird shows up as 750 mhz?

Your friend has a jumpered motherboard probably and his 100/133 jumper is most likely set to 100. Set it to 133 and he'll be good. It'll be in the manual. If it's not jumpered, it should be changeable in the bios.

 
What is his multiplier and FSB set at? 7.5 x 100 = 750. 7.5 x 133 =997.5 (1000).

i doubt it has to do with jumpers on the motherboard. check your bios settings. my PIII700 gets detected as 433 (or something like that) and its just a matter of tweaking bios settings
