1 GB USB flash drive $24.99 AR TigerDirect

Good price, but TigerDirect rebates are f'n terrible. I sent in a HDD rebate last September and they keep feeding me this BS that they never got it. I keep e-mailing them but they haven't responded in 3 weeks.

Maybe they did never get it, how would you know without delivery confirmation? I have only been on these boards for under a month's time and already I know to make photocopies of all rebates sent to anyone, even if it's solid like Newegg or CC, plus delivery confirmation is sometimes in order (for an extra 50 cents or whatever compared to a $40, $70 or $150 rebate I would say worth it). TigerDirect has probably been a rebate deadbeat at a frequency similar to most comparably-sized places; this is the nature of the mail-in rebate. Your isolated incident is too small a sample size to write off the company altogether.

Regardless of my opinions, the fact is if you want results ditch e-mail and pick up a telephone.

Had you been here longer, you'd know that TD is absolutely horrendeous @ rebates. They make most "rebate deadbeats" look like angels.

But, like you said, you haven't been here very long, and therefore wouldn't know that.

Though the OP did have good intentions and his method of mailing in rebates seems almost full proof. 🙂

Agreed.

Hot Deals Forum 101 - NEVER go for a TigerDirect rebate or expect any kind of service after the purchase.

Mine and my friends' experience with Tigerdirect rebate is really bad as well.
They mysteriously misplaced my claims or part of it that they cannot give me the rebate while the part that they claim is on the same page with the one that they said they got. I am afraid it is just like a russian roulette (no offence to russians) with over 90% filled magazine. Since I don't have any trouble with the other's rebates, either their postal system is wrong (like deliver only part of the page that I printed or something like that) or they are evil.

Lucky you who got the rebates. I would never try to buy anything from Tigerdirect again and I will tell anybody as such regardless if there's rebates involved or not. There's no justificatoin to help the cheaters.

IMHO the Corsair 1gb flash drive at Newegg is a better deal:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820233008

$41.85 + $4.81 shipping - $15 MIR
= $31.66

People have found this drive fast and reliable. Corsair is a known brandname.

Also, $15 MIR instead of the $30 MIR in the Tigerdirect deal.

Not to mention Newegg is a much more reputable and reliable dealer than Tigerdirect.

Shipping is 6.99 at TD anyway so the Newegg deal is better. 54.99 +6.99 - 30 = 31.98 at TD after rebate.
