Hello,

I just bught some Samsung Chips from SVC.Com I think they are rated at Cas 3 whereas the XMS sticks are rated at Cas2

What I am trying to figure out is should I keep the Samsung Ram or get Corsair???

Going to be running an Epox 8RDA+ at 200 MhZ FSB if all goes well.

Thanks
Phil

I'd get the 1GB of Samsung because the stuff I do (heavy multitasking of many memory-intensive applications) would love to have more than 512MB (what I have currently). Heck, my system would work better (if all other factors remained constant) with 2GB of PC/133 SDR SDRAM than with 1GB of PC/2700 DDR SDRAM. :Q

However, if you're a hardcore overclocker, and don't plan on ever playing anything that would need more than 512MB (the latest Simcity has a voracious appetite for RAM, I've been told, as has BF1942), then perhaps the Corsair RAM would give you a slight advantage.

just boost the voltage to 2.6 and see if you can hit CAS2 with the samsung stuff.

I was in a similar situation. I could only afford 512 of the corsair but I wanted a gig so I went with HyperX pc3000. As you can see in my sig it does pretty well.

Stick with what you have unless synthetic benchmarks and 1-2fps mean a lot to you.

I did and it rocks! No regrets. :D

If you aren't worried about OC'ing and your RAM runs synchronously with your FSB w/out issue, I wouldn't worry about timings and OC'ability of RAM. Personally, I went with the best PC3200 out there b/c I've always found that my RAM was the limiting factor in my OC'ing efforts and flexibility. Being able to make FSB adjustments at 10-15MHz at a time sure beats 1/2 of your FSB in one shot.

My vote is for the samsung. You'll need 1gb of ram in the near future anyways. I run 512mb and I'm itching to upgrade to 1gb.

how much for a 512mb stick?

it's probably no good for me as all of my other ram is pc2700.
