I don't get it, so they'll ship you all the items and you have to return it?

Or they'll cancel the $25 item?

You better email them quick an dhope the see it quick because they'll get that shit marked as shipped asap and then you'll be stuck having to return the item anyway.

Why can't they just override it instead of going through the hassle.

I do really hate the add-on BS. sometimes I just want to order a small, cheap item. Let me decide if I want to pay for the shipping or not. are they really saving more money this way or are they losing money due to people buying stuff that doesn't do this BS?

I don't understand this either. I guess their margins are so thin that some things just aren't worth shipping on their own, but you'd think they'd give us the option of paying the overhead if that's the case.

There's definitely been some lost sales on my end because of it. Not many, but a few

I'm back in school now and just got 6 months of prime for free. It was already worth the $99/yr, but this is even better. :p

So out of curiosity, did they do this because this item was unavailable as a non-addon item or something? That's the only reason I could see them eating a $25 loss.

love love love Amazon!

It is my favorite online shopping site by far. Yesterday I tried to snipe an item on ebay and was shot down, i.e. lost. I then searched for the best price on ebay for a similar item, then went to Amazon and bought it for a much better price, competitive with what I'd have paid if I'd won that ebay auction. This is pretty typical of what goes on much of the time. In general, Amazon's prices are competitive with the best you'll find on ebay. Not all the time, it's a case by case basis, but I've found that Amazon's a better bet in general. But a couple of days ago I got an item for $240 on ebay that would have cost me $300 on Amazon, plus tax probably. It's a case by case basis.

Amazon's done right by me when I have an issue, e.g. the item didn't meet my expectation (wrong size or was missing an important feature). I can't remember a negative experience dealing with their customer service. I seldom complain, have only returned an item 2 or 3 times, do a lot of business with them. They've extended me free shipping IIRC on these occasions on the returns. I usually piggy back my orders so I get the free super saver shipping. I compare prices a lot but usually find the Amazon prices as good as it gets.
Gotta love the rate hike in Amazon Prime. "Oh, thanks for confirming if I wanted it or not. I definitely don't now."

I'm glad I'm one of the ones that can stick it out until I have $35 worth. It's not that big of a deal.

If I'm shy of the now $35 limit, I wait until I have another item or if it's not much difference go to Makeup item finder and pick something I can use.

I keep some can-wait-items stashed in my Save-for-Later list at Amazon to get me to the $35 limit at a later time.

QFT and ordering a retail item that shows up at the door from China in a ziplock baggie.
I've had decent luck with stuff from China, and that's usually ebay stuff. No ziplocks, they usually come in a plastic bag sealed with tough tape. Can't recall anything being damaged in shipping. The drawback is the long wait, and it can be pretty long! But if I'm in no big hurry (usually that's the case), so what? The prices are often amazing and I have to wonder how they make a reasonable profit. I bought a metal shoe horn for $1, shipped from China. Totally adequate, I ordered 2 more.

No idea. I posted the bulk of the email. Maybe because of buy history. I use my account for our personal stuff, my business, bro's business and a friend of mine. The last 6 month's was $2100 plus whatever digital books/movies that got downloaded.
