Tried to order $15 worth of bits for my Dremel and the site wouldn't let me check out. Turns out they're "add ons" meaning that they won't ship unless they're added with a $25+ item being shipped. And the good news....

I've verified and found out that you're trying to place an order for add on items (Dremel 952 Aluminium Oxide Grinding Stone & Dremel 932 Aluminium Oxide Grinding Stone).

Since the item is add on item, the order won't process until a $25 item is shipped along with it. In this case, I'd like to make an exception to our standard policy and ask you to place an order for the item along with any item worth $25 or more and write back to us with the order number and we'll issue a $25 refund for the extra item you ordered so that you'll be charged only for the add on items (i.e., $15.72).

Shouldn't have made an exception, I've wanted to buy plenty of "Add-on program" items by themself and were met with frustration. The program is BS anyway and now so much crap is being flagged as Add-on that it goes past the original spirit of the program, which I called would happen from the beginning.

I don't get it, so they'll ship you all the items and you have to return it?

Or they'll cancel the $25 item?

You better email them quick an dhope the see it quick because they'll get that shit marked as shipped asap and then you'll be stuck having to return the item anyway.

Why can't they just override it instead of going through the hassle.

I do really hate the add-on BS. sometimes I just want to order a small, cheap item. Let me decide if I want to pay for the shipping or not. are they really saving more money this way or are they losing money due to people buying stuff that doesn't do this BS?

I'm glad I'm one of the ones that can stick it out until I have $35 worth. It's not that big of a deal.

Too bad I ordered a $45 xbox hd for my kid Sunday. He's going to work off the $45 but I could have essentially gotten it for $20. Might have told him....might have not....:sneaky:

It's silly what's an add on item and what isn't. I bought a three pack of paintbrushes for $4 and it was prime-eligible, but a $15 dremel bit isn't? *shrug*

Funny thing is, Amazon claims the forced bundling of these low price items (add ons) enables them to offer those items to us, however 3rd party sellers often sell the item at the same price shipped - no bundling necessary. :hmm:

Sorry Amazon, I'm not buying it.

house is full of gadgets/cables etc to hit that $25 mark. usually i just plug in something like protein shakes, dog food, baby stuff to hit that mark since i usually buy that stuff all the time anyways locally.

if its not an asap item i stick it on a wishlist where i can combine add-on items added up to order when it goes over $25.

There really were a lot of scumbags who felt they just owned a new tv permanently by returning the old one every few years. Seemed shameless about it.
 
I think the add-on program makes good sense. It COULD be abused but if not, it makes good sense.

There were people here defending their 'six month upgrades' with laptops to be their right as it's a lifetime satisfaction guarantee.

The raped the spirit of those golden warranties and ended a great system.

My last order I found out I was ok to use my son's .edu for 6 months of free student prime, hopefully we don't get hooked on having it.

They could have sent me the bits and I would have paid for them and the shipping. It's not an emergency and Home Depot is 4 miles down the road. Pretty sure I'll be in there on Saturday so it's a lost sale for A.

They could be at or near zero on the profit so that would make sense.
