I don't remember exactly how to do it, but it's something about when you tape them all together and they all light almost simultaneously, they explode. Seems like you have to wrap them almost completely in tape.

Because the heat generated lights the entire sparkler, unlike the normal, slow, burn. Throw a single sparkler in a hot grill/fire and watch the same thing happen on a smaller level.

Last 4th of July I held about 10 sparkler in my hand, we lit them, and they don't even sparkle. It's just one big flame and it was hot as hell. Then I did it again.....
