1 core always fails in prime, while the other 3 continue for hours

Hey everyone

So I've been trying to find a stable overclock at 3.2ghz on my q9450 and 750i, and my last 3 attempts at making my system prime stable failed more or less.

my last settings are as follows:

vcore at 1.26 8x400 for 3.2ghz
ram at 2.0 800mhz for 1:1. 5 5 5 15
cpu fsb (vtt) 1.3
spp (nb) 1.4

i get a considerable amount of vdroop, so that may be an issue, but my main problem is that out of the 4 worker threads in prime, my 2nd core always gets an error after about 1 or 2 hours, but the other 3 cores end up running for 8 hours +. Temps never go more than 50c on realtemp. What seems to be the problem? Any and all help is always appreciated! Thanks.

1 core fail = system instability...

raise your vcore and maybe your vRam (depending on your ram) and is that 1.26vCore reading from the bios or in windows? if in windows is that at idle or @ load?

where are you getting your VTT and NB readings from??

The vcore is 1.26 in the bios, but at load with prime cpuz shows it as low as 1.216 or 1.224. When its idle it shows about 1.24 in cpuz. the vtt and nb readings are from the bios. I could barely run prime with a cpu vtt of 1.2 so i had to bump it up to 1.3 at least. the nb is still sitting at 1.4.

My ram is gskill ddr2 1000 5 5 5 15.

That's called vdroop...and it looks like you need to bump it up one more notch and run again.

Yeah, I'm gonna be trying that tonight. Thanks for the help, everyone. I'm going to see how it goes this time with just a bump in the vcore and no where else.
