Personally I would say that's cold... you can get almost complete systems these days with Dell and such for a couple hundred more.

But for the person who has a good box laying around and just needs the MB, Chip, and RAM, they could pay $99 and then sell it on eBay for more than $250 or sell locally in the paper like I do for more than $400. Then it is not a bad investment and is a good deal.

CHEAPEST DELL DESKTOP I COULD BUILD, needed though to add a floppy drive for $30 more

after this deal i think i could build a desktop for better. 511 -100(this hot deal) = 411 - 100(xp home)= $311 for case+PS, cd, floppy, hdd, KBandMouse, and cheap printer. heck i could get a DVD burner, better hdd, and 2 floppies for $311.

Actually looks like a decent price but the reseller ratings for this vendor suck brown smelly stuff.

People use resellerratings as a place to complain about bad deals.
Only a very small percentage of people are going to take the time to say that everything went well with their last order from Newegg, amazon, buy.com, etc.

Better deal would be Fry's. Since December, seems like every couple of weeks they have a Duron 1.6GHz with KT333 ECS motherboard for $39 and 256MB PC2700 for around $30. I'm sure they have under $10 HSF available. I think they've had Sempron 2200+ deals for $20 more.

bobcpg,

A duron 1.8 runs circles around a p4-based celeron 2.4 anyday. In games alone the performance improvement is 30%+

Unlike the p4, the celeron version of it can't encode worth s@%t because it has no cache thus has constant misses in the pipeline. Anyone who owns a newer celeron, even the Celeron D, knows what I'm talking about if they do any heavy tasking on it. It feels more than slugish, almost choppy, which is why its amusing Dell puts them in servers where the network backbone is more responsive than the server.
