1.6A HEAT Problems with IT7...HELP

Hey, I just got a brand new system with a 1.6A and the friggin temp. is at 50C+. I tried lowering the Vcore but nuthin but a 1-2C temp drop. I put Arctic Silver 3 on the intel stock HSF that came with the CPU and I know that most people's 1.6A's run at about 35C. If anybody has any ideas lemme know. maybe im doin sumthin wrong? Heres my system:

WD 80gb 7200RPM HD

Enermax 350w PSU

The PC is in the basement and the case temp is around 33C, I dont know what else to do. Thanks in advance

you did clean the hsf before putting the AS3, right?
Other than that, the bios might be reading it wrong, check for updates.

Yeah, I cleaned both the Heatsink and CPU with Rubbing alcohol and q-tip before putin the AS3 on, and i made sure not to put too little or too much on. I thought I put too thin a layer on the first time so I did it again but same results.

Do you get those temperature with the case open or closed? If it's open, why not put a finger on the heatsink and see if it's warm. It should feel warm if it's going at 50c+.

well, there's part of the problem... You're expecting a 35C CPU temp with a 33C case temp.

Also, is your system stable?

The system is stable at 1.6ghz, even at 2.1ghz, but at 2.1 the load temp goes to about 70C so I just put it down to 1.6 till I figure this out. The heatsink is cool to the touch and there is no way it's 33C (91F) inside the case. The basement is already pretty cool (probably around 70C (21C). But at 2.1 ghz I can loop 3dmark2001SE and do sisoft burn-in with no problems.

I wouldn't worry too much...

At least one other user here and I also have this board, and the CPU temps read unusually high... I think Abit screwed up on the CPU thermal sensor a bit... It is probably actually about 10 deg C lower than what it is telling you...

My BD7II reads at least 10c high too so dont let it bother you unless its not stable. Running prime 95 mine shows about 68c but is stable as a rock. I removed and reset the heat sink 3 times with the original thermal interface and with artic silver 1 and had no changes reported.

CPU temperatures of my BG7 board are 42-46 C(idle) and it can go up to 58 C under full load.

I guess recent Abit boards tend to read 10 C high than other boards.

oops
i think your temp sensors are off, at 70c things melt . also, take a second to make sure your heatsink is mounted properly. check for a footprint from the arctic silver.

Im going to try to O'C to about 2.3ghz tomorrow and run several stability tests ans see how well it holds up. I definilty think the board is reporting the temps high as The inside of the case is not even warm and the heatsink is the same. Ill let yah know how it goes. Hopefully Abit releases a new BIOS soon that will fix this. Thanks alot, anybody have any advice for overclocking with this board? Let me know. Thanks for the help
