1.6a @2.1 P4s333...CPU temps accurate in PC Probe?

I recently put this system together along with 256mg of Kingmax PC2700. I am using the stock HSF with ac3. So far everything is running perfectly, although I am a little concerned about the CPU temps. The idle CPU temp seems to be less than 40C as PC Probe doesn't show anything below that. While processing audio today (for about 45 minutes) the CPU temp topped out at 50C and settled at 48C under full load. I have a couple of questions:

1. Do these temps seem a bit high? Anything to worry about?
2. Are the temps recorded in PC Probe even accurate?

When I run Sandra 2002, the system and CPU temps are not displayed. I haven't had any luck getting temps to read in MBM either. I am using the latest bios (1005).

I am only running two fans; the power supply and heatsink fan. I don't want to add fans if possible as I really appreciate the low noise factor of the P4 setup.

Thanks for your feedback.

I ran prime last night, and my temps went up to 52 Degrees, and after I shut the program down this morning it took only 4 minutes to get back down to its normal 40 degrees. So I imagine your temps are in the ballpark of what it's supposed to be.

The new version of Asus Probe now reads cpu temp correctly, v 2.16.02. It's on Asus web site for download. Also, the temps match what Motherboard monitor seems to pick-up as well. You didn't mention what OS you were using...but any version under ME seems to run very warm.

good luck

got the latest version of pcprobe on my p4s333 and I get around 32 idle and after playing jedi knight2 for about an hour I was surprised that it had jumped a full 12 degrees to 44 C, but just a couple minutes later its already back down to 33 C

This is with stock cooling btw.
