I'd rather buy two or three smaller drives, but this is a great deal

I think with this size drive it certainly opens its self up to using some type of mirror or stripe RAID array, especially with the price as it is

What does the price have to do with it??
As ask earlier......is this 5 yr warranty??

The price being cheap has everything to do with buying multiple and RAIDing them...

A quick Newegg search still shows most 500gb drives at the $99 pricepoint. 1500gb for $189 is like getting $10 off two 500gb drives, plus a free 500gb drive...it's a much better value to buy a single drive. Price has everything to do with it![]()

I don't know of any reason to "long format" a drive.

At the end of a long format performed in Windows, it will report any bad sectors?

There is no low level format anymore, what that does is taken care of at the factory.
