Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB 5900RPM 32MB cache SATA

$89.99 plus shipping
limit 2, expires 10/22/09

This is not a 7200RPM drive but it is big and cheap (like yours truely) so it is good for a storage drive. Retail boxed, so full 5 year warranty.

My 7200rpm Seagate 1.5Tb is just about as fast as my 1Tb WD Black..I was surprised. I think the average transfer rate was actually higher on the Seagate.

Just checked the 7200 version - shows $99 for me plus 6.99 shipping (1 drive) or 7.99 shipping (2 drives).

They also have the 640GB WD Green drives for $40 in stores (it was online yesterday for that price, but they've raised it now). Comes with a 1-year warranty even though the ad says 90 days.

This didn't even last a day at my Fry's. Went in at 5 PM last night and they were sold out.

These were gone as well, the 640GB WD hard drives for 39.99 (recertified I think).

I already have one of the 7200 rpm ones, I just don't know if it is worth the extra $10

I feel your pain.
I've got 2x640GB WD drives...one for a dual-boot OS & the other for storage.
I'm pondering a new storage drive.
