1.5tb HD ticking after move

I just moved the other day, and now when I hookup my media center, the hard drive is ticking and it's running dog slow. The drive is a little over 6mo old, but this doesn't surprise me that much because it's a 5 platter 1.5TB.

Should I just live with it until it dies then claim warranty?
Should I try and fix it with disk repair tools and prolong it's life a little?
Should I try to finish it off with some sort of disk stress test?

Why wouldn't you just back it right now and claim warranty? You don't wait until a disk fails to replace it.

For some reason I was thinking the disk had to completely fail before they would run an RMA... I guess I'll check into that!

Thanks!

I know of no drive makers that insist that the drive melt down before returning it. Fill out the online RMA form and send it in and they'll send you another (unfortunately, refurbished) one.

Seagate's RMA is super easy. Also, did you happen to give the drive a little bump during the move?

I moved it very carefully and handled it myself the whole way. I had my desktop with it in my car, and it's fine. Only thing I could think of is that the # of platters makes it more sensitive to movement.
