1.4 TBird with 300watt PSU?

Can a 300 watt PSU run with a 1.4ghz TBird? I'm getting my SX830 sometime next week and I was just wondering if I should even try to boot up with the 300 watt PSU? Could I harm any of my components by using a PSU that is too weak? I'd really hate to break something just because I was daring and tried to boot up with a 300 watt PSU. Thanks. 🙂

check out my rigs page (pc list link at the bottom) and look at the "new BIG BASTARD" computer...that system is running with the stock 300watt power supply in the sx830

i was running almaost the same rig with a 250watt power supply. i had a computer (it's listed as my old rig on my rigs page) close to this one...when i added the geforce2 ultra to the old one, it was too much...i unplugged the case fans and popped in the ultra and this overclocked t-bird and it ran fine. it seems that the 300watt should do fine...

it should run it.. but.. if you start having stability probs, you will know that the PSU is the problem!....

Bryan 🙂
