1.4 TBird O/C

Just curious, I did some playing last night, bumping up core voltages, etc. Got a decent overclock, but I'm curious to see what everyone here has seen for an average 1.4 GHz Athlon TBird overclock.

What is the AVERAGE O/C for an aircooled TBird at 1.4 around?

I can't help ya much with the average but I'm at 1564.

I can get it up to about 1610 if I slow down the DDR (CL=2.5, timing = 'normal')

but get better overall performance with DDR at CL=2 and timing = 'turbo')

I got mine up to 1.6Ghz at 1.8v stable. It could have gone higher with better cooling and higher voltages though. :)

I vaguely remember having talked to the place I bought it that told me it was an AYHJA core, and I remember checking the die when I got it and it was what they said, so I know the core is capable, I just haven't done O/C for a while on processors.

I managed to get 1524 @ 145 Bus default multiplier at 1.8v.

I could take it higher to 1533 @ 146 Bus but the system got really unstable. I hadn't bumped the voltage up any more since I don't have the cash right now to buy a new proc, but I was curious to see what the median on the 1.4's has been. I thought 1524 was pretty good, since before when I did an O/C I could never get above 135 bus (because I never bumped the voltage up).

What's the point on voltage that I should start to worry about what I'm doing?

Oh, one last thing, case temp at the time was 31"C and the processor, at 1533 was never higher than 43"C after running 3DMark 2k/2K1 SE. and when I checked it in the bios, it would cool off by about 1"C every 3 minutes down to 42"C

usually max. temperature under full CPU loading is how you will determine the maximum voltage (Vcore) for your system.

If you keep that backside temperature below 50 or 55 (C) you should be fine.

You might want to consider a mother board monitoring utility so you don't have to boot to read the temps. (Those first several degrees
go away really fast when you restart your comp.)

I think a lot of people use this one

also, many like to lower their multiplier a notch or so to allow higher FSB. You'll have to experiment to find what you like the best overall.
