OK. I got a 4 port router. I got the router to work with 1 system on it. My problems are that I have a 24 port 10/100 switch with about 6 systems on it and an eight port gigabit switch with 7 more on it. I can not get any of the systems that are on the swithes to connect through the router. Should I uplink both switches seperately or link them together and just uplink the one. Any thoughts on what to do. I am trying to get everything set up now because I am in the process of buiolding a folding farm and that will have to network too.

I'm guessing that, with that kind of hardware, you now what you're doing. If so, don't take offense at this but, are you using crossover cables between the switcehs and router?.....although...those switches could be MDI/MDIX so..if the cable isn't the problem then I don't know....sorry - but there are people here with a lot more knowledge in this matter.

Good luck

No I have not tried a crossover cable yet. I used the uplink port on the 24 port(non mdi) witch should crossover it internally(i think) and my gigabit switch is mdi/midx so I didnt think i needed to. Thinking tends to get me in trouble. The connection between the 2 switches is fine. Just can't get them to connect through the router. I have never used a router before so it is new to me. I usaully just use 1 port on my system for net and the other for internet and share the connection. I like to experiment with the overclocking and various programs that requires me to restart a good bit when I am playing with it and the wife don't like loosing her internet cuase I rebooted. Thanks and I will try a crossover cable next.

Regular Port on the Router should go with regular CAT5e to Switch's Uplink.

Regular Port on the Router should go with crossover CAT5e to Switch's Regular Port.

In some Switches the Uplink is shared with the port next to it. So if you use the Uplink do not use the port next to it.
