1.4 gig Athlon Tbird unlocked. How far to push?

Simple question...

Thinking about overclocking my Tbird processor, it's 1.4 GHz normally, and I was wondering how much i should push it to?
Voltage?
Multiplier?

I had the same chip (just upgraded to 1800+ JIUHB DLT3C) and I found that the stable limit it seems to reach is around 1600Mhz (12*133). Anything above that wouldnt post and my ABIT KG-7 hates higher FSB's so that was out of the question. Even so the Thunderbird hates overclocking so I wouldnt expect too much, although 200Mhz gives a nice boost! Oh yes and the temps, dont even mention the temps... :beer:

I have a good cpu fan w/ Arctic silver and two case fans, side and top, so I'm not worried about moderate temp. increase. Or should i be....

i thought the high-end athlon (1400mgz) were not very good overclockers

No the overclock came on a 1.75 voltage as I couldnt get it any higher with my crappy mobo. And the 1400Mhz Thunderbird can handle a fair amount of heat so I wouldnt worry too much if it pushes 55 C but as i said earlier it is simply a terrible overclocker. My advice is to get a 1700+ or 1800+ if your mobo supports it and have some real overclocking fun at lower voltages therefore temps. :beer:

Its a bad overclocker I couldnt boot at 1500 I could do 1466. Just not in the summer
But I have abnormally bad cooling (doing 57 C stock now).

I've still got my 1.4 Tbird. I can't even get mine up to 1500 stable (even at 1.85V), so right now I'm running mine at 10x143. Another part of my problem with overclocking this thing is I have cheap Best Buy PC133 RAM that is keeping me from upping the FSB anymore.

The nice thing about the 1.4 is I think all of them are multiplier unlocked, so if you've got the memory, you can really run the FSB up high without pushing the chip too far. In general though the 1.4 Tbirds were not known for great overclocking.

I used to have a 1.33 Ghz Tbird that did 1.6 Ghz w/ an OCZ Golaith HSF w/ one of those delta 7K+ RPM screaming fans =) so it wasn't that bad an overclocker, although both the 1600+ and the 2500+ that have since replaced it were better over clockers (1.8 and 2.2 ghz respectively)

If you have core stepping AYHJA Y there's a possibility of hitting 1.8GHz With water. haha
