The intellectually dishonest Christian Republicans (@Atreus21 and @Doc Savage Fan) once again resort to lying, fake alternate quotes, biased alternative sources, strawman arguments and generally shite debating skills that involves them being extremely obtuse and paying no attention to their own hypocrisy... I am not surprised one bit, just as I'm not surprised by the retard they elected.

You know how Ken Hamm likes to describe there being two kinds of science? In a way it's kind of like that. I've seen local avatars of both the religious and the political right here make perfectly sane and rational posts. Cut to a time of particular division or stress and the tribal, team sports stuff takes over, tossing respect for science, history, etc right out the window. Enter alt-facts. Ethical integrity / intellectual honesty present just not valid on all issues, some restrictions do apply, see fine print for details.

Whatever.

I'm still just hoping one of them can help us out. Those of us who aren't christian enough I suppose are having trouble making the connections between the 10 Commandments and The Bill of Rights. We can debate what men long dead thought personally forever, even without made up quotes by activist christians, so why not cut right to the chase and address the stuff that is written down and not in dispute? You'd think with apparently 1/3 of Americans thinking the way they do at least one of them could elaborate on some of the connections that they feel support their beliefs.

Are you being serious right now?:confused_old:
Okay, tell me which part of being American means I have to subscribe to your definition of what it means to be an American?

If you think that you must be of a certain religion to qualify as American in a country in which the prime legal document expressly forbids the federal government, the entity responsible for establishing the requirements to be American, from establishing a mandatory religion requirement then you're objectively wrong, no two ways about it.

Per the subject line... I must not be American then, go figure.
Organized religion has a fairly... simplistic "us vs them" attitude. Base human tribalism at its worst.
American ideals are for our people to stand above such things. 1/3rd surveyed have clearly failed.

Militant atheists are the worst people. Nasty, obsessive, just awful.

Yeah they sure are screwing up the Middle East aren't they? Death by bullet, bomb, or vehicle is what you can expect from those militant atheists! Don't get me started on what they're doing to science and history curriculum at public schools. And their constant efforts to impose their non-religious morality on the rest of us via legislation! Agh!

Yep, if there's one thing I know it's that those militant atheists are the worst. No doubt about it. None.

Just. Awful.

Of course I don't think that.
That's not what this is about, however. This is about cultural customs and traditions, not official policy. It appears you misunderstood.

When I see unsubstantiated rants like this I've got to wonder about one's motivations and what I said that triggered such a reaction. You have accused me of lying, alternate (sic) quotes, alternative sources and strawman arguments...yet you provide zero evidence to support such accusations. Yet in your mind, I'm somehow the one whose obtuse, hypocritical and has shite (sic) debating skills to boot. The projection and irony here couldn't be any thicker.

If you're actually capable of saying something reasonably intelligent regarding the subject...say it. If not, please stop with the juvenile insults...it's time to grow up.

I think this is relevant is and is pretty encouraging when you see the trend over the past 15 years of the value placed on a President subscribing to religious myths diminishing.

Yeah, based on Trump being in office, it seems there's a lot of flexibility on how important it is.

Republicans must be freaking out, because they're closer to losing one of their marketing points. And Trump is ironically speeding that along by being anything but a virtuous man (cheated on his first two wives, clearly exhibits greed and corruption, lies on a daily basis).
