Yeah, I was thinking of getting it myself... I don't mind cutting up an old USB mouse for the cable
.Sweet, 99 cents only stores sells those for a buck. I still have several compgeeks $1.25 USB cables.
Anywhere on the East Coast to get these? Is it only in a B&M only or can I order one online? Thanks for any info
I got the impression you just install the software and hook up a cable, but that is the most helpful page that I saw.
if I am reading the artilce correctly, it takes 10+ hours to download the raw data (picture) from the camera to pc.

I gather the 10+ hour transfer was their initial success. They seem to have solved that, but it doesn't say how long the transfer is now.
Let's see: Cheapo quality. Really low quality lens. Mediocre or worse pictures. Lots of my time to figure out the hack and a long time to download the pictures.
Not too hot IMHO. I can imagine a few ideas for how you might use these (someone mentioned a party), but given how crappy the whole thing is, why bother otherwise.

for someone that doesn't want to spend $100+ on a digital camera, this seems like a nice/cheap way to have one that you could think more of as a portable webcam with the quality of a pretty good one..
The camera does have a very cheap lens, but $13 + tax for a usable and disposable camera (plus sync cable and usb cable) that I can leave in my car is hot.
I think you misread. Make a cable, install software, that's it. Hacking has been done for you. I guess getting the cable to attach to the camera is the most major part. Seems like the cheapest decent webcam I can find. Usually any webcam you see for around this price is crap. But since this is technically a camera...
I'm going to see if I can find one!

I agree... that is SMOKING HOT!!! A digital Camera that with 13$ and a few tweaks makes pretty good pictures for the web. I'll get a couple, Mod them and send them to Missionary Friends. I don't even need to worry about the thing getting stolen in the mail!
Just reread that info page. One of the to-dos is to see if a webcam mode can be enabled. So looks like webcam not possible yet, assuming that's recent.
EDIT: Went to their MSN group, small yet, but someone said there is two drivers for it, one for snapshots and one for video.

go buy a barbie digicam for about 15 bucks and you got a better deal than this pos...

A barbie camera with a 320x240 CMOS sensor is a better deal than a 1.3MP CCD camera and 10 minutes of modifications? Please don't feel you have the need to post in every thread. Thanks.
