I could put my hands on a bundle that includes a 1.2 Ghz Athlon Thumderbird on a Abit KT7A motherboard.

I am quite tempted...

Is that mobo OK with CPUs above 1Ghz?
Is that mobo any good anyway?

I want to upgrade to 1.2GHz Athlon (maybe 1.4Ghz), any suggestions for a good motherboard.

Help and advice much appreciated.

I have built many a machine with abit kt7, kt7a, kt7-raid and kt7a-raid and also ka7 and ka7-100 (their older cousins) and I have nothing but praise for that particular platform.

I have a KT7A with a 1.2 Ghz TBird. Works great and fast as hell! Just make sure you flash to the newest bios and have good quality memory- if you plan to overclock at all. Good Luck!
