0xc0000005 CRASHES

I've been having these recent errors even after reformatting. I'll play wow or wc3, and i will get an access_violation error 0xc0000005, crashing the game. Any suggestions? I've already tried adding -opengl to the target line, didn't help

Since you already did reformat, and you are having the same problem on both games, I'm going to guess that you might have a bad memory stick. Are you overclocking? Do you use Norton Anti-virus? It caused the same errors, but they patched it.

Try running memtest86. It will detect a bad memory stick. Your system could possibly be overheating as well (hasn't ever happened to me before though, so not too sure). Maybe, try running the games with the side of the case off to let it cool down easier.

Need more information from you, big time. Like system specs?

Could be overclocking, overheating, memory issue, driver problem, etc.

Assuming you are not overclocking, I'd first run memtest. Then get back to us.

Memtest 86 could take overnight to run. Just pull out 1 stick of memory, try it. IF you still get errors, try the other by itself. (This is of course if you have 2 sticks of memory.)

I had this in Warcraft III once. It turned out to be a bad memory slot. The RAM itself was fine but the motherboard slot was bad apparently. Had to get a new motherboard.

What programs are you running while gaming? I have an error alot while gaming if I have Xfire (chat program for gamers) running. Shut Xfire down and the game runs flawlessly.

I actually get this same error when I try and load TBC onto my system. I'm able to load most other games without trouble but this game gives me the same error weather it is at 99% load or 1% load. This is after a complete re installation of windows and updated drivers, nothing else. Ive ran memtest and it found nothing wrong, same with a few other programs for various other components. I honestly doubt its overheating because a 9800xt, amd 4000+, and ddr 400 ballistix 2-2-2-8 dont even get above 30C according to the ati reader.

Like I said, Buy new ram. Memtest isn't real at all. I could memtest all day on my old sticks, broken is broken, worn is worn. get new ram.

I have some generic ddr 400 (same size) and it still does the same thing and the socket itself doesn't look bad.

Hmmm. Did you check to see if the settings you put in the bios matches with cpuz. Because the dividers/timings sometimes don't set properly despite your input in the bios.

Crank up the voltage on ur ram/cpu

9800xt, you should check the heatsink too, very small the last time i had one.

You need to run windebug and see what program/driver is throwing the illegal operation. You could also check the drwatson log.
