SHOULD be in nov AFAIK

That's what I've read; I hope the pricing isn't too bad. ~$200 is what I'm thinking for the list price.. maybe ~$175 from the egg?

thats what i'm hoping too. i will purchase it first day newegg has it if its in the 175 range
retail is actually $250, they had a contest on their site where you could pick betwen 4 different price ranges (they did a drawing out of the people that choose the right price) , and i picked the $200-$250 and i was right and it is $250. doubt i won though lol

That sounds horrible to me.... Even the 3 fans in the p180 sounded bad. Why would you want so many loud and annoying fans inside the case? I only use one of the 3 fans that came with the p180 and im even thinking about turning that one off as the temps. are fine.

you have the OPTION of running as many as 9 and as few as 2

Exactly.. I know if I had the case, I would at least have one front intake, one rear exhaust, one top exhaust, and one side intake. That's only 4 fans, one more than I have on my Sonata now.
I'd probably still load it up with all 9 fans just for kicks 😀 Just gotta use quiet fans and/or a fan controller.

i would be inclined to try 9 fans to but i think it would create a wiring clutter and i'm pretty sure the side fans are sold seperately

My choice? I got the P180....only gripe is that the mobo is a little close to the botton of the main compartment, makeing hooking up LED connections a pain....go find a needlenosed pliars, that will make it a little easier.

Hmm.. one small problem for me.. the CM830 is 638mm deep (long). That's 25 inches! It would stick out from where I place my computer in my desk by about 5 inches. I guess I will have to wait for some reviews to see if it's worth it, or wait till I graduate in May and move somewhere else and replace this desk.

Wait for teh CM. I bought a P180 and i hated it. Cheap plastic junk FTL.

It is made of plastic...it isn't cheap though....the main body is aluminum. The door hinges are plastic, but unless I really went on a rampage and tried to rip the door off, it won't break....Plus the door goes back a full 270 degrees, flat against the side panel.

The filters are EASY to access, unlike all coolermaster cases, which depend on small air holes (which not much air goes through) then filters....I ripped the front filer out of my Praetorian and replaced it with a handmade one, and got 2x the airflow.

Coolermaster sucks. P180 makes everything easy....no mobo tray sadly, but you get a small place to store loose parts, pull out HD cages for EASY access/ 3 speed fans (awesome fans they are, they tap the coils to change the speed....not change voltage) / small doors that cover the filters (push in they release) / filters that snap right out for easy cleaning under a spigot / special cable management for the PSU cables/ seperate compartment to isolate the PSU.

Lets see CM do that.

i agree with everything here except for the fact that antec making a superior product does make CM crap

All the good reviews by qualified reviewers say the plastic in the p180 has a purpose and that its a very well built solid case!!

Also DerelictDev states...

I would like to know the temps you are running in your case?

Also fans do not have to be noisy.....
There are a few quiet fans on the market that are very affordable!!

Counting the days...

In the latest MaximumPC mag they gave the P180 a '7'. I was kinda suprised by that since most everyone else was giving a higher rating for the case.

Be a rebel. Go CM. 🙂

EDIT: Damn, I like that case. I might have gotten that back in the day instead of this one. Less fans, and less space, but a lot nonetheless. I would have to see how much it weighed to make sure it was sturdy though... But wow... I like.

EDIT2: But damn that page is so fvcking slow! Just kill the flash crap, and give me the damn information already! Sorry...

Well I have all my parts for the build and I am going to try and wait for this thing to come out...hope its sooner than later. Can wait till Thanksgiving but after that.......well, we shall see

btw, anybody heard any more on when its going to be released...who do you think will get them first? Newegg? Monarch? ZZF? If I knew for sure who were going to retail it I would start checking daily...

thanks

No it IS cheap. I own LianLi cases and brother... that Antec is a cheapo. It has a cheap plastic feel to it. I bought one when they first came out. It was relatively easy to set up vs. my LL V100 (which Antec copied heavily from lol) The feel of the front door is lame. Plastic has no place in my pc case. and the side panels lol... who's bright idea was it to make the tabs out of plastic? My sisters doll house has more durable side panels than the P180. Also the P180 is a small case.. you could probably fit the whole thing inside a CM Stacker lol.

Geez, just because the case contains plastic doesn't make it "cheap." Each piece of plastic that's used in the P180 is used for a good reason. I still think it's the ultimate combination (thus far) of cooling power and silence, and in appearance, it may become a classic. Some day, afficianados may speak of it like we do of 1957 Chevrolet Bel Airs or '67 Mustang Fastbacks 😉

All you're stating here is that you went into it with a prejudice against plastic -- i.e., "if it has any plastic in it, it's cheap." It's just uninformed to complain that the P180's side panels aren't durable. I have yet to read about anyone accidentally kicking a hole in them, and it's uninformed to imply that Antec put the plastic parts in just to save money. Nobody ever said the P180 was the ideal case for someone who totes their rig around to LAN parties all the time. If you're someone who routinely abuses your PC like that, you'd probably be better off with something that's 100% heavy-gauge steel or aluminum, but neither of those types of cases is going to give you the marvelous combination of features that's unique to the P180 as of this date. The truth is that this case is anything BUT cheap.

You went into this already knowing it sucked. Wow. I would trust this case to hold a 300 lb person sitting on it. I don't think the plastic is at all cheap or flimsy, and this case is easily worth your money...more than an all steel Lian Li or Silverstone (esp the ones that have wheels on them b/c they weight 50 lbs.)

Don't go any buy a $200 lian li when you can get a case that is lighter, much easier, a lot of fun, and cheaper. I got my P180 for $100.

Like eyeglasses with hinges designed to overextend outward and not break, Antec?s hinge actually thwarts damage for those times when you accidentally kick the open door. Clever.

------

Plastic has cheap, negative connotations, but I?ve never seen a smoother, more perfect-fitting panel than on the P180; it stays snug and releases with exactly the right amount of pressure, with plastic tabs sliding into the metal chassis. The same is true of the slide-out drive cages. It makes me want to never use another 100% aluminum or steel case.

The case is blissfully quiet, built like a tank, tasteful, ingenious, and genuinely fun to handle.

I saw that too. It was mostly because their PSU had short rails and their MB power connectors were at the very top of the board so it made for a frustrating install. Also they were not impressed with the plastic side shroud. But do not put much stock in their evaluation, though.

I own the Lian Li V1100, their winner, and while a nice case the airflow is so poor it is completely unsuitable if you intend to overclock on air. My case temp is 40ºC on a cool day under an open window. It is so bad I am shopping for a new case already, yet the first "+" Maximum PC gives the V1100 is "great cooling"? So like I said, don't put much stock in thoroughness of Maximum PC magazine reviews.

edited for grammar

Max PC has gone down horribly recently. With the insane adds, and the questionable reviews, I only renewed my CPU subscription this year...

I agree. In the same issue they spend a whole section on how to change out your PSU/Video Card/RAM/MB. That same info is available via Google, and info the majority of Max PC readers already possess. That's just not what I subscribe(d) to "Maximum" PC for.

Yeah...I'm seeing the same thing....I prob won't renew again....CPU is so much better....

Plus max PC reviews always seem to be biased....or the reviewers are just a bunch of bufoons.

While we are on the subject of magazines, does anyone know any magazines for server type hardware? XEONs and the like? I have never been able to find anything... It sucks.
