I'm watching some webcasting right now. Brit Hume just said Obama is in for a great night and their exit polling slightly exceeds the previous poll data. The only question now is if they call it right at 8:00 p.m. He also said race was a big factor in this primary.

As a white native of Mississippi, I find it encouraging that everyone is criticizing us for voting for the black candidate on the basis of race. 🙂

Why the big pissing contest over Mississippi just hours before the actual vote comes in? In just a few hour we will have a semi clear idea of how many or few delegates are picked up from Mississippi.

Hahaha to the states that fell all over themselves to vote first. This year its going to be the late voting States that are decisive on the democratic side.

So far, the only issue Hillary has scored on is Nafta, and Bill Clinton is one of its chief architects. There is no way that Obama can't stop the bleeding on Nafta. And with Pennsylvania over 40 days away, thats the state to hold pissing contests over at this point.

And with that lull in the campaign process, whats the odds that McCain, Obama, and Hillary will remember they have a job they got hired to do in the US Senate?

I am amazed that this fact hasn't been discussed more: After Obama's win tonight, the delegates gained for Hillary on March 4 have now been equalized.

After the "Potomac" primaries, the Clinton camp pointed to Texas and Ohio where they would catch up. The press agreed, making Texas and Ohio the critical place for Hillary to take a stand. She won a handful of delegates, which Obama has now evened out after wins in Wyoming and Mississippi.

If the press starts to focus again on delegates, Hillary may not make it to Pennsylvania. If they keep allowing her to define the race, I guess there's a chance for her. But at this point, there is simply no way she will win the pledged delegate count. And if it was anybody - ANYBODY - other than Hillary, she would be getting tremendous pressure to concede the race for the good of the party.

Exit polls in Mississippi show Obama getting 91% of the black vote and 20% of the white vote. That looks very Kerry 2004-like. Just add in a bunch of white Republicans and there is your 2008 results for MS.

Doesn't this imply that Hillary is getting her votes from white people on the basis of race? Or is it just the black people voting on race, and coincidentally the white voters happen to recognize Hillary's superior candidacy?

Spin THAT one.

Obama won the 31% of the electorate who thought race was the most important or one of the most important factors in their vote - 59% to 38%.

Right. All 31%, huh? And Hillary's 70 some odd percent of the white vote is still coincidence, right? I guess they were voting on First Lady experience.
