03/04 Cobra Terminator production

I didn't know this story about the Cobras. So they had basically a crap car without the supercharger. Instead of tweak the engine they just slap a supercharger on it and then they were "keeping up" with LS1 F-bodies(pushrods and N/A) that had been around since '98. Yeah nice job lol.

Yeah it takes a blower for a 4.6 to keep up with a 6 liter engine with nitrous, go figure. Because lets face it, a LS1 that isn't running at least a 150 shot is like a Terminator without a pulley: they don't exist.

Was just sharing some unknown info on a car with a unique story, didn't know it was so personal for some of you.

Thing is we can post 8 second Z06s and 3 second solid rocket sleds and Veyrons all day long, but at the end of the day, I actually have a car in my garage, not a poster or a link to someone else's youtube video. :awe:

Lets not turn ATG into youtube with "my friends dads uncles cousin has XXX" fail fest. There is always something faster no matter who makes it.

Performance is only one part of it...accidents and cost of replacement parts a bigger portion.

Yup which is one of the main reasons why my SRT-4 insurance is so low compared to me getting a WRX or a Mustang GT. It's less wanted so it's less likely to get stolen and parts for it are cheap.

That's one benefit of having a car based on "a car you see on every corner". Body panels, glass, lights, basic things like that can be had a dime a dozen.

Towards the end of my choice so many years ago, that actually came to mind. I had to reason with myself, would I really drive something more rare like a restored classic without being constantly paranoid? Logic reigned over emotion, and as a DIY shade tree, I wanted something I could rag on without fear of scratching or breaking anything and having to mortgage my house in parts costs.

All the important stuff under the skin is Cobra, but a cracked headlight lens or broken window or fuse box cover is just a $0.50 Mustang part. Well except that 03/04 Cobra specific LED third brake light... just the damn lens is $125 and it's a dealer only part.

Some cars would be a nightmare just having your original gas cap stolen.

Since when is an LS1 a 6L and running nitrous from the factory?? And the Cobra is about a tenth or so quicker in the 1/4 maybe? I don't see how that equates to the Z06, rocket sled, and veyron spill. lol

There is nothing wrong with a Z06. There is nothing wrong with a Cobra. Each one has different performance for a different price. For what it is, the Cobra is an amazing car that responds to cheap mods incredibly well. I'm sure the Z06 will do equally well or better, with a much higher pricetag.

If you can't see both sides of the coin and appreciate both vehicles for what they are, then this probably isn't the thread for you. You're intentionally trying to stir up shit in what's been a fun thread so far. Keep being making an ass out of yourself and throwing out the attitude. Pretty soon people will discount all your posts. You'll be ignored - if you aren't already.

You said a LS1 that a 03/04 Cobra could "keep up with", so I took that to imply nitrous, since a "bolt on" LS1 is heads, cam, stroker, and nitrous... or hell a 427 LSX block... depending on who's definition...

Love the history revisionism and how a 13 second car in 1998 is now a 12 second car in 2010. LS1 != LS3/LS7/LS9/LSX/LSA

Either way, it's not worth arguing about, it's not like I haven't defended or shown admiration for LSx cars/engines on these forums. I get tired of people whining about plastic bumpers and push rods too.

The rocket sled and Veyron spill? About as relevant as dropping a heavily built up 8 sec Z06 link in a Cobra thread. It doesn't matter what you have, if you share it on the internet, someone knows a guy who's father's uncle's brother's cowoker's ex who has a 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 second something or other.

As for "needing a blower" instead of improving the engine, lets talk about how the LS-A "needs" BOTH 6.2 liters and higher compression ratio and a big 4 lobe TVS blower to only make 550 HP? We were doing that with 4.6L and a tiny Eaton in 2003 :awe: *beer*

Sorry... the cobra wasn't making 550bhp stock. But, you would know that.

My N/A stock headed LS2 is 430 to the wheels at the moment. Throw a s/c on that and there's no way it'd only be 550bhp.

My guess is that LSA would be a monster with just a pulley or two.

How did they have an '03 Cobra in a magazine published in November 2001? 😉

The point was a mustang magazine drove a STOCK LS1 car in the 12's. Not to mention plenty of others. Durrr of course there would be no '03 Cobra in 2001.

I don't think he understands sometimes the 'production tune' is hardly what the car is capable of stock.

LS1's were the best bang for the buck cars when they were out. Sucks that no one bought them. They smoked all it's competition.
