Hi -
Here it is:

Staples - Maxell 100 pack 80 min CDR's $32 - $12 ins reb - $20 mail in reb = $7.94 net

Office Max - Belkin slim jewel cases 50 pack $9.99 - $4.99 ins reb - $5 mail in reb = $0
" " - Belkin (?) 50 pack spindle $14.99 - $2.99 ins reb - $7 mfgr's reb - $5 Off Max mail in reb = $0

I never used or heard of Belkins' before, so I don't know whether this is a good deal for them. Personally I'm saving all the dough I can because I think there'll be some really good sales coming up soon.

Have fun

The 50pk rebate is _any_ 50pk of CD-Rs. I grabbed Imations. You could choose Khypers or anything else you want. You only get them free if you choose Imations or Khypers, though, because the starting price is low enough....

Sweet! Do you know how hard to find 650MB CDs are now? (I prefer them for "backup purposes" for discs that were originally 74min or less. 80min CDs are harder to read in non-PC devices.)

What non-PC devices don't read 80min CDRs? They must be really old electronics... Yeah it's true that 80min CDRs have smaller pits than 74min CDRs... but if you have a electronic device that reads CDRs in general, then it should be able to read 80min too... That's weird to see a device that can only read 74min CDRs and not 80min CDRs...

You probably mean "Princo". (Or maybe PrimeCo was a re-labeled brand, Princo actually makes them.) I have a stack of those "special" CDRs, the ones that are the only ones that play in certain DVD players that don't play CDRs.

Found out something else interesting about them too, recently. I helped a friend out getting a burner a little bit ago, it was a Smart&Friendly SCSI 8x20, which is a Sanyo CRD820 or something like that. Well, I was over his place helping him use it, and I tried putting in one of those Princo CDs that I gave him, and it didn't recognize it at all. It just kept spinning the drive up, and seeking, trying to detect a CD. I honestly thought (from the disc RPM and noise) that it was going to shatter in there. Finally pulled the power on the machine, since the CDR program locked the drive and I couldn't eject it. This is an older (non-CDRW-capable) 8x burner, and seems to like only the older "blue" (cyanine, maybe azo) media, not the newer stuff. The dye layer that the Princos use, it couldn't detect the disc properly at all. Maybe it was a fluke, I don't know. It sure was scary when it happened.

I've had no problem with those discs in my Yamaha 6416S and my Sony 48x upgraded to a Lite-On 52x.
