This same thing happened with Crouching Tiger.

It seems as though with DVD's that aren't released yet, but ones AMAZON wants you to be able to preorder, they don't put a price (just lists at $0.00). However, when the movie comes in, they'll contact you with the price and will ask if you still wanna buy it (if you preordered).

I think Superdoopercooper is correct, especially since I was charged $0.00 not even shipping.

Now if this movie were currently available and I were charged shipping then I'd say we have a better chance of actually receiving this DVD for free. Oh well it was worth the try, I placed my order but I'm more likely to get french kissed by a Mod while posting a Staples coupon than actually receiving this DVD for free, hehe ;)

Amazon has in the past honored their pricing errors, do any of you old timers remember getting The Insider DVD for FREE?

Here's the DVDTalk.com thread for this deal which was posted last night 3/27.

I'm glad I went to the matinee to see this movie, as I would have really been pissed to pay a full price admission. It was an ok movie, not anywhere near SOTL quality and I don't think I would like to sit through it again, even if it were for free.

Yes and no...If you look at other movies that are also in the same preorder status, they have the price affixed to them (Ie. Crouching Tiger...), as opposed to Hannibal. But I agree that they will probably just send everyone an e-mail, letting them order at the regular price or cancel. But, then again, The Insider was misprice and a preorder and they honored it...so you never know.

this same thing pops up every couple of weeks; unreleased DVDs sometimes don't have prices, and they show up as $0.00. i think amazon has honored a $0.00 DVD sale only once ("the insider"), but that was a released title and a true pricing mistake. don't get your hopes up.

I dont see a way to add it to shopping cart. How did you do it? (or is the deal dead?)

Deal dead for now. When I pre-ordered my "Hannibal" about an hour ago it gave me options to add to my cart or activate the OneClick feature. Now all I see is this out of stock message, so I assume that when they get more in stock and if the price remains $0.00 then the deal will come alive again:

<< This DVD is not in stock, but we'd be glad to notify you by e-mail when Hannibal is available for purchase. Simply enter your e-mail address, and click Go. >>

Yep, this is merely a glitch in their system. If someone gets it, congrats, you just cheated the system ;)
