If you're lookin for a 16mb cache drive, get the Enterprise version for the same price. 5 year warranty and 1 million MTBF. A guy on eBay was moving them for cheap (but doa) so I researched them tonight.
it's the same drive hardware. the MTBF figure is just some sort of marketing speak.
and it may actually lose data more often because it'll stop trying to recover whereas the normal one will keep trying

yes but, thats not a downside if you're using the drive for what it's been designed, any form of RAID with redundancy(any but RAID 0) will replicate the data from the other drive(s) and not having the drive attempt to recover data endlessly will increase the life of the drive as well as speeds across the board.
