Lol these dudes had 8 years to get a plan in place -- hell, even the skeleton of a plan. We heard on the campaign trail over and over that it would be replaced swiftly and quickly once he took office. Now they've come to realize the complexity of the situation (something apparently "nobody knew")

And now his/their suggested escape plan is:

"Let it be a disaster, because we can blame that on the Dems that are in our room -- and we can blame that on the Democrats and President Obama," Trump said in remarks to the National Governors Association. "But we have to do what's right, because Obamacare is a failed disaster."

Historically the party in power takes all the heat when something blows up. Not sure the just blame it on the Dems defense is going to work here, doubt it really played well with a lot of even the GOP Governors.

Last I saw he's sporting a low 40s approval rating with a low 50s disapproval. Any significant damage to the healthcare landscape prior to the 2018 election would probably be a real bad thing for him and other midwest GOP governors up for re-election.

I've been self-employed for over a decade, he could have asked me. Pre-ACA it was an expensive, burdensome (applications ran 30+ pages) and excluded anything possible (I had an exclusion based upon a routine tonsillectomy done 40+ years earlier). After ACA it's much better but their online platform and rules still suck big time.

If the GOP did WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE EIGHT YEARS AGO and actually put some meaningful input into the ACA we could have a decent system. If all they propose are meaningless "solutions" that abolishing state insurance regulation so insurers can so-called compete over state lines (meaningless because the out-of-state insurers don't have medical provider pools in-state) the rage of the citizens will continue unabated.

It is interesting to see Trump basically admit he has been bullsh*ting us. Well, at least we still have his two week plan to wipe out ISIS.

As he met on Monday with insurance company chief executives, Trump reiterated his description of Obamacare as a "disaster" that is "only getting worse." He also discussed his own upcoming plan, pledging that it will be competitive and "great" for "the patients, for the people and hopefully for the companies."

"Costs will come down, and I think the health care will go up very, very substantially," the president said. "I think people are gonna like it a lot. We've taken the best of everything we can take."

I have a feeling he may leave Obamacare in place, and instead have his sons create Trump Insurance as a government promoted alternative (a "private" public option, if you will). Fits well into his ideals of branding and promotion.

I guess probably the only people that knew it could be so complicated are the non-wealthy people that have had to use healthcare at some point in their lives.

It's complicated, but dozens of developed countries have figured it out. So Trump should do what other manchildren do, copy someone who has their sh!t together.

Fun fact -- after years of defunding schools and crippling our already horrible public school system in Wisconsin (mainly Milwaukee) he's now signing/working on bills to push more money into schools and the GOPers are praising him for this. So he robbed $100 and is returning $50 and Rome is celebrating him like a conquering hero. It's unbelievable.

Yes they have, but the USA has a much great per capita cost of care, so it will be more difficult. What we probably need is some of the other countries on this list to sort of pitch in and allow their cost of care to go up so that we may lower ours. We probably subsidize some of the world's medicine in that we are bearing the brunt of the patent cost and probably other costs. I think it is only fair that the EU and Canada start sharing in those costs.

Yeah, no. If the rest of the world wants an equal share of the end product they can have an equal share in the development of them. Why should America shoulder most of the burden?
