£60 upgrade to 3770k?

So sell my old 3570k for £60 and can find a delidded 3770k for £120, I'm slightly attached to my 3570k as it is my first CPU but would it be worth it for mostly gaming?

A delidded i7 3770k for 120 pounds is great deal...definitely worth it especially if you overclock it around 4.5ghz.

I wouldnt bet on 4.5 100% stable though but the extra threads give just the extra for many newer games.

I don't know about other modern games, but Fallout 4 gets a 50% framerate boost when moving from a 6600k to a 6700k. Hyperthreading and cache can make a big diff in these newfangled games.

It is on a overclocking forum but tbf I'm running 1.4v in my 3570k right now...

Says he tested it @1.3v 4.5ghz so could be interesting, thing is I'm going to upgrade the whole system in the next year or two but I have started to think about getting the most out of this system first.

Digitalfoundry has the i7 3770k running at 4.5 ghz and it's giving the i5 7600k 4.8 ghz a run for its money

Eh I'd hold off on that de-lidded Ivy Bridge. It's probably super degraded at this point. You don't know how much voltage was pumped through that.

Well, considering I've been running with the 3770k for almost five years now, I highly recommend it. I can still run Fallout 4, Witcher 3, and pretty much any other game on the market maxed out at 1440p. I can't comment on the CPU being de-lidded, but just commenting on the CPU itself I can vouch for it being rock solid for the full price of a brand new one.

Doesn't really bother me at the end of the day I've been pumping 1.4v into my 3570k, costing me only £60 after selling my current even if it did go after a year I'd be upgrading anyhow.

See the thing is I know I want to upgrade anyway in the next year or two which makes me ask myself wherever this is worth it, it isn't just the price but the issue of having to sell old hardware which also has some sentimental value to me. I agree the 3770k doesn't look that bad for 5 year old tech but I dunno 🙁
