    Sub-$250 "small" mobile device

It's time for my wife to get a new phone. She currently has a (broken) Moto G6, and with a rugged case, it barely fits inside her wallet. She also cannot reach across the phone when using it with one hand. She has expressed strong interest in a smaller device as a replacement. Unfortunately, in...

Question Budget Build for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

Thanks Mark. I went ahead and bumped the CPU up to the 3600X since it's the same price today, and picked out an inexpensive kit of 1.35v 3600 from G.Skill.

Question Budget Build for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

Looking to put together a home business machine for my wife. She's considering migrating from an old MacBook Pro to Windows for cost and customizability reasons. She uses her machine to work with high resolution canvasss, but was really getting by alright with her 2012 BMP. Here's what I've...

Would it make any sense, to upgrade Ryzen 1600 to 2600 (2nd-gen)?

I'm still on Ivy Bridge - you can guess my opinion. It used to be that I'd get a new CPU every time performance doubled, which was every 2-3 years. Now I'd do it for anything more than 25%. I have zero use for the extra cores, and per-core performance is only barely 25% better after 6 years. I...

    Hybrid Battery Failure and Replacement

It's not uncommon at all to replace just a stick or two in a Toyota battery. Cost can be as little as $2-400. They don't typically all fail at once.

    Gyro capable controller?

I suppose this doesn't pertain to a game specifically, but I've been searching for a few days for a gyro capable controller for PC - I've been replaying Breath of the Wild via emulator (yay 4K + better textures and shadows) but find it somewhat annoying to need to pick up my phone and start a...

Power to weight. Your 3 weighs in at ~3,000lbs, GTST weighs in at a relatively hefty 2900lbs, pretty crazy heavy for the era. I would only need 90HP under the hood of my hybrid for it to be quicker than your 3, and 100HP to make it faster than the Skyline. The RX-7, for comparison, was a 2500lb...

    Mark my words

There are plenty of fun, inexpensive manual cars out there you could probably afford with what's in your account right now. You're just (seemingly) fixated on one in particular. Not that there's anything wrong with this. I'm sure you're aware that your specificity is what's pushing this way out...

Please, please add another 2 seater manual to the roads.

Buying cars from those small-time used car dealers - tips, tricks?

Many of those lots don't actually accept cash. You have to take their financing because that's how they make money.

Your next car (and what you're driving now)

Current: 2000 Honda Insight, nearing 250k miles Next: Next month I'm replacing the engine with a <40k Acura TSX engine, and a custom 6 speed gear box. That makes it a new car, right? 200+HP in a <1700lb vehicle. ;)

New Honda Accord - base 4 banger turbo or the Hybrid?

Up until ~2016, most hybrids used NiMH batteries. We don't know how long the newer lithium packs will last, but chances are good they'll be a lot cheaper to replace. The pack in my G1 Insight was still good at 18 years old when I sold it earlier this year. Sold the pack, that is.

When people try that here, they get a ticket.

New Honda Accord - base 4 banger turbo or the Hybrid?

Depends on the year of the Volt as to how it’s set up. You can have a stationary gear even if it’s always connected. Priuses have transmission fluid and bearings. I’m sure the Accord also has bearings, but far fewer. Drivetrain losses are much lower.
