I'm told that a lot of these manufacturers are fitting their 1 GHz laptops with non-mobile 1 GHz chips, which equates to a lot of heat and power consumption. I'd ask them about that.

I bought one today at a local B&M Staples. As mentioned in the above post, they took $20.00 off the $59.98 at the register and gave me a PrimaScan MIR form for $30.00 off. Total for me was/will be $9.98 + tax, or about $12.00 for a USB scanner. It lists as compatible with Win98 and Win2000...
