I have an 8800GT video card for my dual monitor setup.
I'm thinking of purchasing a 260/216 so I can better game on my primary monitor. Does it make sense to run both video cards and have the 8800GT be dedicated to my secondary monitor?
After swapping around a lot of combinations of sticks and slots, it looks like 2 of the sticks are bad.
It is weird. Memtest will run without errors, but winrar and acronis workstation generate errors messages that state there are memory problems.
With the sticks in, the system crashes...
I'm using those timings because that's what it took to get the 4 sticks running in the first place after conversations with Crucial phone support.
I could probably change settings now since I'm not using all 4 slots, but I was trying to find out if memory cards can go bad over time.
I originally had 4x512 which worked fine for 6 months. But then my computer started acting flaky until I took out 2 of the sticks.
Again my computer ran fine for a couple of months. Except Acronis Workstation backup software wouldn't work properly - which they diagnose as a memory problem. I...
Just posting my solution in case anyone searches on the topic in the future.
It turned out to be much easier solved than I expected.
I just added another wrt54g as an AP in a room next to the deck where I already had an ethernet port. I gave the new AP a different channel and turned of...
Thanks for the feedback. I tried the thibor firmware and it didn't apreciably improve the signal when I raised the power.
I saw that the Pre-N had some great reviews about a year ago, but it seems like it may be getting phased out. I was worried that if I bought that setup, it might be...
Wiring and hubs are no problem, but it makes no sense to put a wireless router or access point (AP) in a metal cabinet or place where it's going to have the signal blocked before it gets anywhere.
The guy's suggestion makes a lot of sense if you are going to this much effort to wire your...
I have a v2 Linksys WRT54G wireless router that gives a middling signal across the inside of the house and a very weak signal through the brick wall to my deck.
What is the best AP/card setup I should consider for swapping out what I'm using now?
Actually, I'm planning on using the...
I want to update my original post in case someone is trying to solve a problem with their memory in the future.
I was never able to get my machine to boot again with the original memory. I called Crucial, and with no hassles, they agreed to exchange my memory for free.
I purchased an...
I see your point Lopri, and I've played around with overclocking in the past. But I've had too much experience with my system acting weird and not knowing what the problem is. I'm sure that 98% of the time it's a OS or software problem, but invaribly I start wondering if it's a problem with the...
Yoo Hoo -- I finally got 2 sticks of crucial memory to work in my motherboard. Before I could only get 1 stick of my Ballistics 512 PC3200 CL2 memory to boot. Based on a tip here I changed the DRAM voltage from 'auto' to '2.7', and put in the 2nd stick.
Has worked ever since!
Question...
What graphics card do you have?
Does turning the power supply upside down make any difference in reach? I heard it could be run either way.
Also, would dremel work on the metal make any difference in getting better reach?
I don't want to buy/use the extender either.
