    Need Some Samsung Assurance

I have been soured in the past with a Samsung (42" 2006 flat screen HDTV). It was only 2 years old and I had just lost my job (in 2008 which just soured me more with the timing) and this tv started shutting itself off as soon as I turned it on. I tried a tv repair place who didn't fix it after...

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I looked and I have connected the front speakers like the rear ones - solid gray to red. But everything is consistent on both the speaker and receiver ends, we'll except for the rear ones that are connected to the receiver end with an RCA...

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

Normally I would apologize but I'm not going to. I am 66 YO and technology is not second nature to me. I don't have any friends that know anything about this or I would have asked them in the first place. So I came here. If you took the time to be rude you could just as easily told me...

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

I connected them this morning. I connected the solid wire to the red on the speaker and the stripe to the black. This may be wrong but it sounds very good. The speakers are JBL Surrounds. No model # on them. They were from a true surround system that we had back in 1994 and left the front...

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

Each RCA connector has both the solid and stripe speaker wires coming out of it.. The RCA end plugs into the Aiwa Stereo, one for right, one for left. The other end is bare wire that splits to go into the speaker.

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

The wires are built into the plug end but wires are bare on the end that plugs into the speaker. There are no wires already built into the speakers.

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

I don't have anything to make pictures with. And I already have the wire with the RCA plug on the end so no need to solder. But if you are saying to connect the stripe side of the bare wire end to the red connection on the speaker, I'll try that

    Speaker Connection to Receiver

Can you help me connect some rear speakers to my stereo system. The Stereo has two ports for right and left rear speakers that use wire with an RCA audio plug on one end. So I have the speaker wire with the plug on one end and bare wire on the other and my rear speakers have the red and black...

    Subwoofer Question

Thank you. I am not very technical and don't really know what line level output is. Also, I have another alternative for a woofer. I have an old set of Marantz HD 770 speakers just sitting in my closet and they have built in woofers/tweeters. But they are 8 ohms and the speakers that came...

    Subwoofer Question

I know this is old technology but nevertheless I have connected my 1995 Aiwa NSX-999 shelf type stereo system to my Sony Bravia TV. I have 2 side speakers and 2 rear speakers that came with the stereo system connected to the Aiwa and it sounds good, well much better than the awful Sony internal...

Rant: Never buy Samsung Electronics again.

I'm glad some of you have had good luck with Samsung. I suppose there are lemons in every brand. I had a Samsung DLP TV that was only 2 years old when it died. I lost my job back in 2008 and it promptly died. I spent $200 that I didn't really have at this bad time and that didn't fix it. My...

    Please Help Non Tech Oldster

One more thing to know - I just checked again on the back of the Aiwa unit and there is 1 red and 1 white port (hole) with surround speakers labeled above these ports. The right rear speaker was plugged into 1 and the left rear speaker was plugged into the other. The connectors that were...

Thank you so much for your help Ironic. If standard RCA connectors are the red, white and yellow connectors, mine has a longer prong (single) on the end. Keep in mind too, that mine has both speaker wires connected to it per speaker.

    Please Help Non Tech Oldster

Ironic - sent email to you with pic of connector that did connect rear speaker to stereo originally. Wish now I had not cut it off but I needed speaker wire for something and this old stereo system was just sitting in a closet. Who knew that in 2013 I would find a use for it. Oh and I know...

    Please Help Non Tech Oldster

I used the red/white audio cable and the audio/video input on the Aiwa. The speakers are connected to the speaker/wire connections on the Aiwa and that still leaves speaker plugs open on the Aiwa. Back when it functioned as a stereo system only (way back in 1995) these plugs were where the...
