Well, I decided to go with the P4 2.4C, IS7, 1GB Kingston Hyperx PC3500 for my new system. Thanks out there for those who gave me some insight and helped me decide.
It should be a smokin' system :D
OOPS!, the AMD system would be a pair of Corsair XMS PC2700 (1GB for $150) not PC3200.
That is what makes the cost equal.
I dont care too much about the fastest gamming framerates or the two or which memmory benchmarks faster. I want a fast, reliable and balanced system that will not give me...
I will not be overclocking, and my system will hold off on being upgraded again for quite a while.
So what is the best option?
Also what about HT? does it make a difference in common tasks being run at the same time? or is it just hype?
I am ordering new system components tonight.
Here are my two choices which cost the same; so help me decide!
I will be running Windows XP Pro and I already have an ATI AIW 9700 Pro and an Audigy2 sound card; how will these components work with the motherboards below?
Athlon XP 3000+
Asus...
All I am saying is; does anyone notice this fumbling on Nvidia's side?

Did any one notice that Nividia pulled their last two unified driver package versions?
Between this and the 5800 Ultra flop it appears that Nvidia is getting sloppy.
Maybe ATI will buy Nvidia?!:P
Anyone?
Here is my question; Are there going to be any issues with the KT400 southbridge and my Audigy2?
Is the retail XP 3000+ heatsink adequate? and do they ship with thermal pads or paste?
Is my 450W going to be enough? I also have 3 optical drives and plan on using the onboard RAID
The prices for the XP 3000+ are now in the $250 range and I have decided to upgrade my system.
Here is what I have already:
All-in-Wonder 9700 pro
Audigy2
(2) WD 80GB, 8MB
Antec AMG-1080 case w/ TruePower 450w
