Old floppy drive to new computer fit problems

Thanks for the help. I really wish I would have found this forum prior to the purchase. I would have ordered a custom/pre-built by Monarch or ABS. I am dealing with their nightmare of a customer service dept. as we speak regarding returning an ATI9800(non-pro) card that they screwed up on...

    ATI Radeon...what did I get???

Thanks for all the replies and help. I have the ref# and will call UPS in the morning for the scheduled pick up. I thought I had ordered the retail version, as the link on the site did not say OEM, but as my previous post stated, somewhere on the phone order it all fell apart... JBT: Does...

    ATI Radeon...what did I get???

Hey everyone, I believe I have witnessed the horror of Dell's Indian call centers first-hand (I might change my mind on outsourcing). Due to a tax charge showing on my online order for the ATI Radeon 9800Pro128mb, I had to call cust. service. I gave the item # and description and had it...

    Data From Old Computer

I don't own a multimeter, but I guess I was mistaken calling it a cover when it is in reality the jumper itself (encloses 4 pins). Is this right?

Old floppy drive to new computer fit problems

I don't have immediate access to the digital camera. I will probably just keep it aside for now. Thanks again, Trent

    Data From Old Computer

ElFenix, It seems as if my mp3's are transferring in windows explorer. So on the jumper settings, all I had to do was move the plastic pin cover to the needed slave or master connection without plugging anything into the pins? Thanks, Trent

    Data From Old Computer

Update: I did take out the hard drives and found the jumper connections and configured my new one to DS Master (what is CS enabled and Cap Limit btw?) and my old drive to device 1 (slave). Do I just move these plastic brackets to the new config? Does any connector fit into these pins? I...

Old floppy drive to new computer fit problems

Shooters, Thanks for the reply. You verbalized the problem much simpler than me! It seems as if the problem is with the Dell brackets. Is it worth trying to buy new brackets? The other options would be to forego the floppy--I do have one on my work laptop, so I could email files if I...

    Data From Old Computer

I forgot to add...my old HD is from a my P2 300mHz Win 98 computer, compared to my new p4 WinXP. Will the differing OS impact the transfer in anyway? Thanks again, Trent

Old floppy drive to new computer fit problems

Hey everyone, Just tried to transfer my old floppy over to the new Dell 4600 and the screw alignment does not match. On my new computer, the screw tab from the dvd/cd-rw casing hangs down from above the floppy about 1/4 inch at about the front 1/3 of the floppy and the floppy's screw holes...

    Data From Old Computer

I am hoping anyone can help me in this problem. Last night I hooked up my old hd in my new system(it was on the same IDE cable with the Hard Drive 2 printing) and my computer would not boot up. I followed the link to mechBgon's great build guide, but I need some detailed instructions on the...

Upgrading dual-channel DDR SDRAM on new purchase

mechBgon, Thanks for the follow-through. I am ready to order the 256x2. Two last questions: Since I have the pc2700 on the 256x2 already, will the pc3200 provide any noticeable improvement? At the same price point, any diff. b/w Crucial, Corsair or Kingston? Thanks, Trent

Upgrading dual-channel DDR SDRAM on new purchase

Thanks MechBgon. What do you think about adding the 256x2 vs. 512x2 and having to upgrade later? As for the audio, the old Altec's I have seem to work fine (I'm not too picky of an audiophile)--the mid-level guide I read suggested leaving the stock card in it, so I might wait on...

Upgrading dual-channel DDR SDRAM on new purchase

MechBgon and Matthias99, Thanks for the clarification and follow-up. I have read through the other link and some of your guides for addtl. learning. I did buy the graphics card through Dell after the fact for $198. Just a few quick follow-ups: 1) Would 256x2 limit me too much in the future...
