If you look at the executables for the Plextor firmware (PXfirm.exe), they look to be the same file across the entire drive line. Nowhere in the executables (as far as I can see) does the drive identifier string come in. The identifier seems to solely be supplied by the .ini file for that...
I just downloaded the Plextor Firmware and looked at how it works. Looked at the .ini file it extracts (in the Temp directory), and it has the line:
Inquiry=PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W1210A;
Could the solution be as simple as changing this to match the Iomega drive's value?
