    Suck or Blow ??

Well, I think the logic here is since hot air rises, you'd want to intake air at the front/bottom, and exhaust it at the top/back. So you would want a fan to suck air in at the front/bottom, and blow it out at the back/top.

    Coolmaster and Duron 800

He could do much better, but with just a Duron 800Mhz, does he need to? This is assuming that he does not intend to overclock his processor.) Why blow 30$ or 40$ on a high performance HSF when the unit he has is adequate? SoSD

    Cooling Issues

Thanks guys, I still have questions, though! First of all, I couldn't see the article on overclockers.com, so does anyone know the best way to remove the cheap radioshack 'heatsink compound'? And second, anyone know which HSF would really be better? The Taisol CGK, or the Alpha PAL6035, both...

I have Aopen HX-08 is the power supply enough for a tbird system?

I can get eight drives, plus a floppy drive, into my Asus A7V133. The HX08 has 13 drive bays, though, so you could any another controler if you wanted. It's got five 5" bays, 7 3" hdd pays, and a single 3" floppy drive bay. I only have a DVDROM, a CDRW, two HDDs, and a floppy...

I have Aopen HX-08 is the power supply enough for a tbird system?

I have an AOpen HX08 with it's ATX 2.03 300w AMD Approved Power Supply and I'm quite happy with it, and I've had no problems running all my devices off of it, 1.133 Ghz Athlon, GeForce 2 GTS, Two IBM 75GXP 7200RPM HDDs, Pioneer 16x DVDROM, HP 8x/4x CD-RW, And of course, the motherboard, the...

Is it true that the Fop38 is ........

I went in to a vendor and asked to hear the FOP38, and it has an annoying high pitched whine.. Not something I could tolerate for long periods of time. I wound up getting a Thermaltake Volcano II instead, although I think I shall replace it in a couple of weeks with a more powerful cooling...

    Cooling Issues

Thanks for the responses, My chip is one of the newer kind of Athlons, the C models, and it is not being overclocked, though I did have to manually specify the front-side bus speed. The fan on the Volcano II blows air onto the heatsink, and my case is open. I just built this machine last...

    Cooling Issues

Alright, I have a 1.133Ghz Athlon, and a Thermaltake Volcano II fan, I've used generic thermal compound (from radioshack) after removing the existing thermal pad, my idle temperature in Windows 2000 is 55C, according to the A7V133's thermal sensor, and rises to 57C when I'm playing Giants...

    Good Cooler For Me?

How about a Hedgehog 238M Copper Heatsink with a Sanyo Denki 19.1 CFM fan? I sent an email to PlyCon and the rep suggested that combination.. Or, perhaps even better.. a PAL6035 with a YS Tech 26CFM, or Delta 30CFM fan? How loud is the Delta 30CFM, does anyone know?

    Good Cooler For Me?

I'm looking for a good heatsink/fan for a 1.133 or 1.2 Ghz Athlon, but I shy away from the FOP38 and other Delta-fan equiped units because I use my computer as a home theatre, as well as a stereo, so excessive noise is really unwanted. Now, I don't mind a quiet whirring, and I don't need...
