well i just retried my card with 3DMark05 and apparently my unlock was no good-- I was getting weird textures over the game, like mesh overlay from things not getting rendered quite right. oh well. what's weird is, it looked fine in BF2 and WoW. I wonder if i should leave it unlocked anyway...

just wondering what the risks might be of getting a PS off ebay. I was looking at some antecs and even with shipping it seems like some might end up relatively cheap. they are often used tho, and so what i'm wondering is what the danger of a used PS is if they promise it won't be DOA. thanks.

tivo plus i believe is only for tivos with DVD burners in them. i don't really know about that. basically the 60 day thing is saying you have to actually activate and use the tivo service for 60 days. I think they are just trying to stop you from getting a tivo and then cancelling the service...

power supply, 350w-400w, good quality, for around $30-$40. or a midtower case with a good quality PS for ~$70. now also looking for a good quality mid-tower, no PSU,, with more than 3 hidden 3.5" slots, for <$40 (either B&M or including shipping).

apparently still available at newegg as well for $159 OTD (plus tax in CA :( ). just picked one up to pair with whatever Fry's combo i pick up soon. seems like a pretty good deal. i look forward to hearing whether others could softmod theirs.

thanks for the input. yeah, i'm all about price/performance right now. i was considering the idea of upgrading to a board that OCs better though, because Toms Hardware showed a Sempron 3100+ performing pretty well when OCd. If AMD hadn't sold out of bundles for its tech tour...

the difference tho is that i'd be getting the mobo and cpu for $109, which makes it tempting. Without that sort of deal i'd probably want to stretch for a socket 939.

looking to upgrade from an athlon 1700+ and K7s5a mobo on the cheap, and fry's has a sempron 3100+ and ECS 755A-2 mobo for $109. I feel like some benchmarks I look at show the sempron to be within a few % of the A64 2800+ and 3000+ in performance, while others seem to show it as a pretty low...

i waited too long to pull the trigger and now they are sold out. i need a new machine so i think im just going to roll down to fry's and pick up a sempron 3100+ and mobo for $110. woulda been nice to get a sweet athlon 64 though, especially since i need a copy of windows xp too. anyone...
