Helping friend with Photoshop & Video editing build

Well with memory he will start with 2x8GB so there will be room to add more. He is adamant in using ATI video card in this build if he has to get a GPU. This is because ATI color matching on his monitor to printed results is supposedly easier to do.Thing is I have no idea what ATI card to...

    Raid or not to Raid

Already using online backup on old box. Will probably image the new install so I have a base to restore to if need be. Content Advisor of course only restricts IE users and not Firefox or Chome if those browsers are used. May implement something through the router to tighten down the security...

Was using AHCI and ISRT and ISCT were both disabled. Will disable the Marvell. Ran Memtest for 7 passes no errors. No SSD involved in this build nor RAID. Did not ask for any drivers. Had to install the drivers for the ! items in device manager:audio, nic, Intel Management, Video etc. The 1206...

    P8Z77-V Pro horrendous boot times

Its crunching through Windows loading. The 2 SATA drives are hooked up to the Intel controller. The Marvell SATA has nothing attached to it. I tried those options at HotoGeek and it appears to be something after the black boot screen since those items scroll off quickly. I am pretty sure there...

    Home General Purpose suggestions

I am in Canada and as such Netflix selection sucks and Hulu is not available. Space limitations for where the computer is located preclude using a TV and the friend has no problem with the current LCD monitor and his vision.

    AMD and 13333 memory problems

Thing is there is always something new coming down the pipe. How long has bulldozer been rumored to be coming? Then of course one has to wait for reviews of all the motherboards to show up.

    AMD and 13333 memory problems

I am wondering the same thing. They probably only need 4GB of RAM or perhaps if they get into light gaming 8GB,

    AMD and 13333 memory problems

Is there a problem with AM3 based motherboards and being able to use memory faster than 1333? Looking at building a system for someone with a M4A87TD EVO and they want either 8GB or 16GB of memory on board. Just wondering if I use a AMD X4 or X6 if I will be restricted to 1333 memory speed as...

    2600K overclock to 4.4Ghz temps

Tried a Vcore of 1.32v and UltraHigh for Loadline calibration and the CPU temps during XLin reached 73-74C temporarily with the temps hovering around high 60s. In XLin should the number of threads be 4 or 8?
