shecky: that sounds alot like stuff that was happening on my system before I upgraded the ram in my machine. it effectively removed any trace of that behavior from the game for me.

some results: ========= I upgraded from 2x512 Kingson Hyper X ram 400 mhz to 4x512 all of same ram. Put this with a 3.2E p4 and ABIT IC7-G Board. Video is 6800 GT AGP 256 MB (OC), the ram definitely made a BIG difference for me. I also am using the trick to play the game at 1280x1024...
